I maybe in the market for a 360 sometime in the near future, the budget would be upto 60k so i guess i would be looking around a 2000 or 2001 model.

The car would be a second car doing approx 4 - 5000 miles per yr

With that in mind i would like to know :-

1) what specific things would i need to look out for when viewing, test driving

2) what would be the expected running cost pa

3) what are the servicing intervals and when are the major services due, cambelts etc

4) If buying privately how much would an independent inspection be an wheres best place to go

5) what warrantees are available and appox costs

Thanks

N

you copuld employ a specialist like elms to carry all this out for you, and still be competitive with the pricing?

Not really different to any other car - does it drive well, no unusual squeaks/rattles etc - buy on condition not mileage - there are 360s out there over 100k miles, so don't limit yourself - they are a far better built ferrari than ever before and have few major problems. The only known real weakness is the front ball joints are very soft and need replacing frequently at 300 quid a go - there are 8 on the car (although generally only the lower front ones are affected) - there is a more permanent fix available from hill engineering. If car has full service history should be ok, there were a couple of upgrades to belt tensioners and the 6-bolt clutch but most will have had these by now. Note this is all for manual, F1 box is a different story.

Fuel - 15mpg average, servicing as below and then just unexpected costs - doesn't have to be significantly more than any other premium brand.

6000,12000,18000 - getting more expensive as they progress, also if under 3000 miles an annual check is all thats needed (IIRC). Cambelts every 3 years - 400 quid. 6000 mile service at indie for under 500 quid or 900 at main dealer.

200 to 400 quid - depends where you are, Verdi, QV or other good indie.

Normally a ferrari dealer warranty up to 8 yr old but I believe currently they can't sell them, apart from that take your pick from 3rd party warranty companies, but beware claim limits.

A friend of mine is selling his 360M - red, F1, lovely black interior with carbon seats, silver stitching, sports exhaust, challenge grill & 19" stradale wheels. Its a 2000 car, and she's probably the best I've come across. He's had it for 18 months, taken her to Montecarlo 3 times and has had all the belts done etc. If you're interested, let me know as he's in no rush to sell it, but having seen 10's of Modena's, this ones perfect

Sold my 2000 W red manual in a matter of days...2 serious buyers...great car and I regret the sale greatly...but baby/London living just meant it never got used...still, very glad I bought it but the paranoia of leaving it anywhere and the thought of it not remaining mint were all too much http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/260230.htm
