Hi chaps,

Do any of you own and run a late QP at all?

My brother has a crazy idea of running a new V10 M5, picking one up for c£40-45k and has asked me what the possible alternatives are. I've mentioned the QP to which his first reaction was "reliability". I've read lots on the 3200 and 4200's reliability, but not seen much on the QP - are they more reliable than 32/42's or is it just that there aren't many of them around so we dont hear about it?

Any replies appreciated. I'd like to persuade him that a QP is feasibly and a much classier choice than an M5 (which for my money aesthetically are pretty much 535d's!).

Any experiences/knowledge appreciated

Cheers
Woody

I have a '07 Sport GT, only done 3,500 miles, so a bit early to tell; but so far it's been very good.

There are two others in the same car park in London and both owners rate them very highly and have had no reliability issues (they've had them for a couple of years).

Lack of responses speaks volumes - at least there is not a raft of guys saying they're rubbish!

v12, thanks for the response.

Tell your brother to read up on the BMW V10 issues before ironically committing his money to one on the grounds of reliability!

I know it's not but the OP said the M5 is more or less a 535d not me rolleyes

PS - Quattroporte's are great cars - have driven one and will probably buy one in the future.

Sorry, not meaning to offend. The 535 is a great car, but my point was that the M5, for the money, is a little too subtle. I know thats kind of the point though.....

Re the reliability problems, I didnt know the V10 suffered....I'll look into that, thanks.

out of those two I would go for the QP. one of the classiest cars on the road

however just to throw another car in the mix Id have this over an M5

I used to have a CLS (AMG kitted, but diesel heart) and he loved that, but has since had a larger family - the CLS only had two rear seats. Cracking cars though, absoloutly no doubt.

I think I need to get him out in a QP....though he's been told the cabin will be cramped (he's 6ft 8 and * ahem * "stocky&quotwink
