Just out of interest, I have heard nothing of a 2008 Gumball.

In light of what happened this year, has the event been canned or has it gone 'underground' ?

The www.gumball3000.com website doesnt seem to give anything away (not that I have scoured it page to page)

They were at MPH in the NEC, with cars stickered up with 10th anniversary 2008 event graphics, South Korea was mentioned on the graphics along with 2 other places that sieve brain here has forgotten. There certainly wasn't the usual 'stir' around the stand that I'd seen in previous years. Dunno if that was a coincidence or the fact it just appeared to be a shop.

The white XJ220 was quite nice though.

They are going from San Francisco to China and the drivers will also be able to visit North Korea. Not touching Europe at all which is a shame as nothing beats the feeling being in the 'Gumball garage' before the event. All those cars and no crowds smile

At least that's the route as it currently stands... I'm sure Tim will be able to give us the full details when he next pops by

i know the details and they are from a reliable source (maxamillion)

the gumball will be starting in san fransisco and ending in beijing for the 2008 olyimpics and is dubbed to be a''once in a lifetime'' experience and they will be working closely with each authority to minamize the risk of an accident.

Anniversary is a nice and much needed PR angle, considering last years black cloud. These types of rallies are old hat & peaked a few years ago, attracting a different type of participant these days.

Way to go (a quick google would have spared your blushes)!

Basically, two arseholes in a Porsche crashed into an elderly couple, killing them. Then fled the scene in another car.

Don't believe everything you read. 2 old people in a car not wearing seatbelts pulled out in front of the Porsche which hit them and both cars fell down the grass bank. The Porsche was driving within the speed limt

The driver was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving and given a two year suspended sentence. So not that innocent!

Wrong forum and thread for this discussion - search one of the road rally forums for the details.

@ sjp63 in true Gumball3000 style planes are now also part of the journey wink
