I had pretty much set my heart on a black LP640 but your postings are making the decision bloody difficult. This is the first Ferrari I like in black and it's my favourite colour. The top down shot certainly shows the body detail off very well.
How are you finding the car? Is it a 'GT'or a whole lot more...
GoM
tbh I've only done about 200 miles in it so they are very much initial impressions, it's much more focused than the 575, hides it's speed more too, Yesterday I was wanting the guy in front to make more progress then looked down and I was already doing a surprising number of leptons. Acceleration from rest is quite frankly hilarious and the in gear pull is staggering, it also sounds about a thousand times better with the standard exhaust than the 575 did with a Tubi and I thought that sounded good.
Fit and finish is on a different level to previous Ferraris and everything works (well nearly everything
) the Mirrors have a bit of mind of their own when moving from reverse to forward etc only downside so far is the tacky key, even my Wife thinks it looks cheap and she knows nothing about Cars
If you're not a million miles away I'll happily take you out in it

i've been saying how much i dislike both the 612 and the 599 in terms of their looks.
There's no doubting how able and beautifully crafted they are.
however this picture makes me realise (even though i've seen a fair few in the flesh) that what is actually bothering me is the lights front and rear.
the rest of the design is indeed classic and beautiful. Now if they could only make the lights look like less of an afterthought.........
(no trying to offend in any way, just stating my own thoughts...overall it's an amazing machine)

Hi F355GTS,
I can imagine the noise and pull will keep anyone entertained. I did have a 360CS which I felt lacked torque against the 911 Turbo's I'd had but the sound and experience of driving it was superb so the 599 must be leagues ahead of this.
The 360CS also had an amusing key with it. When the dealer gave me it I thought it looked like something you made in craft class at school from layers of coloured plastic glued together (many years ago). However it was a lot better than the Ford crap I was given with the DB7.
Part of me is saying 599 is the way forward and the other is saying LP640 and the ball and chain is saying 'NO' to both (never usually stops me). I'm in sunny Leeds but I don't mind travelling to meet up at a place of your choice as a real owner experience is worth it's weight in gold.
I keep seeing the EVO/6th Gear Experience Lambos outside York Retail Park as well which isn't helping.
Ain't life a b*tch when have you to struggle which top car to choose....
I have been looking at a 599 for a replacement of my DB9 when it comes up to 3 years soon and despite the fact that I have never ever been a Ferrari fan the 599 is changing that. I think it is the coolest and most understated supercar out there - and black is most certainly the colour to have. My only reservation is the size of the car - almost as big a footprint as my wifes Range Rover - is that a problem or is it easy to place in traffic. I am having a testdrive on Saturday.

Hi Clorenzen,I think placing any car in traffic is down to confidence and when I had my 360CS Fezza gaps just open open up for you. I also have a RR and you tend to have to create your own which is no real biggy as those suckers are built like tanks. However if you drive well then most people are OK.
The key thing is don't let the other half drive the Fezza after the RR, in fact don't let her drive it at all unless she's one of the very few females who are good are driving... :-) I've let my other half drive my cars and I've been a dribbling wreck in the footwell afterwards.
GoM.
