Ignore the fact the pouting brunette at the start of the clip is in a GT, and that the title of the clip itself claims to be of a GT, this is actually on board footage in a GTR of some spirited driving round some unnamed track in Europe. For any one who knows him from his time at Modena Wycombe, the car is being driven by Lee Cunningham, who use to race these cars.

Lee is the man!

I thought I could drive, I thought I could tame a Lamborghini, but sitting beside Lee on one of his infamous test drives has to be seen to be believed.
The only other time I've experienced a Lambo dance like that was with Valentino.

Derek, I do hope both you and Lisa are well.

Regards,

Ruttboy.

We're both well Alan, as is the beast which is now tucked away for the Winter. Hope all is well with you, as we haven't seen you for a while.

Shame the track was so micky-mouse - chicane after chicane after chicane frown Looks like the other one blew up near the end?

that would be Alvin Fan then... Lee drove his GTR when that series was running, best ruddy driver in the series BY FAR - you should have seen him at Spa - perfect lines around Eau Rouge whilst all the yahoos treated it to a 'suck-it-and-see' style every lap a (wildy) different line!...

Alvin took us all out for dinner in the middle evening of that weekend including VB... I was very, very drunk and had to be prized out of the hire car at the hotel later that evening!

Yep - that was Alvin's GT at the beginning.

Lee is simply an awesome wheelsmith - he is soooooo smooth that the car is always pretty much balanced - and his anticipation is verging on super natural!

I have some footage of Lee around Spa and Magney Cours. And XXVIII, it wasn't the lines around Eau Rouge that were breath taking - it was the lines around (and exiting) Blanchemont, before it was remodelled - where he coming out very close to the barriers at VERY big speeds.

Simply incredible.

In fact the whole Spa weekend was great - ended up doing well in the casino too! And Lee taught me how to double declutch properly to boot!

Great weekend

Ade - fairly almost 100% utterly certain a very lot yes-indeedy that an actual GTR would be as suitable for road use as ermmm... a Diablo GT with even less creature comforts and just a plank with nails sticking out of it for the driver to sit on... and no passenger seat either, so you'd have to keep the Diablo you have!

Alvin was able to get a badge for the back of his GT which read 'GTR' in the same style - not sure if the racing cars themselves had them, so something of a coup in itself!

Just a few days before Alvin bought that car, I was in Lamborghini London's temporary not-so palatial showroom down the back of where they are now visiting/annoying Jason Barker and Jacqui Allen and chasing copy for the one of their columns in the LCUK magazine at the time.

They were expecting Alvin and family to visit as Alvin had expressed an interest in buying that silver GT from them. Jacqui decided to throw some of my coffee on me as she brought it and then said that Alvin was hoping to hear the car as well as see it and was on the way, due any minute...

Jason started the car up after opening the side door of the showroom to let the exhaust gas out a bit. It sounded fantastic, growling and hunting as it warmed up.

I'm sure Jason didn't need to blip the throttle as often as he did - he probably ruined the selling patter of the Range Rover salesman in his presentation to a customer at the other side of the showroom...

Seconds before Alvin arrived, we noticed a curious phenomenon ... just ahead of the roof vent, slowly, slowly, a tiny but very distinct cloud had started to form!

We were smiling about all that and told Alvin he'd have to buy the car as it was actually able to create its own weather - which he did, cloud-generator and all!

He's still got it as far as I know - I could call Lee C. and check. Lee works at the Mercedes museum / test track by the side of Brooklands these days and (whether he knows it or not) will be 'visited' by my niece/Goddaughter in the Spring - she'll be 11 and is already developing quite a car enthusiasm, not altogether the fault of her Uncle David...
