Hi,
Wonder if you guys can help? I have owned my 04 Gallardo for about 7mths and 12,000miles now. I love the car to bits, but was considering a SupperLeggera? Just wondered what you guys think of yours? Is it a big jump in feel/excitement??! How does it compare on a practical level?! Do they all have 4 point harnesses?
Thanks for your time.
Dell.
Ps,
This is the first car i have owned that i have considered replacing with a later version of the same!!

Just gone to an 06 model , which is much better than the 04 but not worth £30k to up grade, if you`v got pots of money OK, but at £90k to upgrade to a legga, can`t see the money in it, there are lots for sale, so prices should start to come down soon

The SL is the absolute business mate , anyone that's driven one or passengered in them will tell you they are *so* much more than the 06 cars.

Compare it to the 430S which will be well north of 200k and it's not bad value

Read the current Evo Car of the Year 2007 edition.
It was a real surprise to read the Evo evaluation of it (poor brakes from memory) - IMHO you'd need to have a pretty extensive test drive of one to enable you to make a decision.

Never driven one - what are the brakes really like ?

I found the carbon ceramics extremely tricky to apply smoothly.
Standard brakes are absolutely fine and in my limited experience just as effective.
Needless to say, all the press cars appear to be optioned up with ceramics etc.
Must say the brakes on mine are outstanding!!
On my journey home from work, (normally at about 4am) there is a town which has been bypassed. It has about 7 roundabouts on it with short straights in between. Despite giving it a hard time it never fades or makes any fuss of stopping!! (Unlike my M3 csl!! Which was rubbish!!!)

I must admit my main concern. Leaving aide the money!! Is that they are all E gear!
So maybe i should do like you did Chris and get an 06> one??

I have a good few hours under my belt in Johnnys SL, I think the car is night and day compared to a stock G, I was anti e-gear untill I tried the SL, just leave it in Sport mode and watch the public run for cover as you downshift! The CC brakes are really sharp and neck snapping when cold but once warmed up they have much more feel.

Gave the SL a bit of a bashing didn't they, which suprised me. It coming 7th out of 12 and a Honda Civic coming 6th. ?????? What ?

They also said the 430 S 'Made a mockery of the Lamborghini, which feels like something you'd build in your shed by comparison'
Thats very strong. Whats their problem with the SL???

I think I must be a Luddite. When the dealership was trying to persuade me to chop in my GT3 and buy an SL as well as the Spyder, I drove an SL for 45mins-1 hour, and still hated the egear.

(Ceramic) brakes seemed fine though. Often think Evo blathers on for the sake of it.
