599-based GTO is go!
Dutch design house will build five 599 GTOs, each costing up to £1m
03rd December 2007

After almost universal approval for its artist’s impression of what a modern-day Ferrari 250 GTO might look like, Dutch design house Vandenbrink Design has decided to produce five examples of the Ferrari 599-based supercar for real.

Two versions will be offered: the 599 GTO, with the regular 6-litre, 611bhp Ferrari V12, and the 630 GTO, with an enlarged, 6.3-litre, 750bhp engine. Not only can the GTO be more powerful, it will also be considerably lighter, as Vandenbrink Design is aiming to reduce the kerb weight of the car to 1500kg – some 180kg lighter than a standard Ferrari 599.

The ultimate 630 GTO version will be priced at 993,000 euros, with full options fitted. However, this does not include the cost of the base car or taxes… For more details visit Vandenbrink’s website at www.vandenbrinkdesign.com

The car, which has been discussed on PH numerous times before, is simply stunning in my opinion. The design has been done with such sympathy that it's virtually faultless!

No, but I appreciate the art of car design! The front grille/intake could be made smaller by reducing it's depth and maybe a diferrent set of wheels would suit better (but not Borrani-style wire wheels; they just wouldn't look right here), but otherwise it's spot-on.

I also agree. I can understand the OP's point, but I think there is a place in todays higly populated supercar market for a bit of diversity, and if carried out to an exceptional standard this would be a stunning project.

I don't remember there being many negative comments about the P4/5 and that took apart a much rarer car than the 599.

If your of the opinion that the GTO is untouchable and sacred, then I could understand why you wouldn't like this. I dont see why if its done right (I believe the car could do with 1 or 2 minor design tweaks) we shouldn't have another GTO to drool over and who knows maybe even own. These are the types of cars ferrari needs to start building again, beautiful passionsate cars.

At least the 288GTO was by Ferrario and had nothing to do with the old one - God I loved that car.

Only Ferrari I'd want (maybe F40 - but the same car really), 288 more sideways funwink

We are entering a new era of bespoke coachwork like in the 50s and 60s.

There are so many super-rich around nowadays that they want a car that is different from their equally affluent neighbours/golf club partners.

I think the Van Der Valk design is lovely, but I personally wouldn't pay that much just to have prettier bodywork. Now the engine...lick

Zilla - Yep agree - I'd pay for superlightened, widened LM 575 type clone of the current car, 1/2 tonne lighter for double the price if Super rich but not 6x the list price for a tarted up 60's copy.

Hehe, I think you'll find that 599s are at least £200k new, so it's more like 3 x price.
You have mail.

The devil is in the details. I think it's pretty flawed - Wheels, should be split rims not a 5 star extended 355 look, side air intakes look like a bolt on ala Jaguar, front grille is far too fussy, and not sure what they are doing with the door handle area looks a mess.

Bits of it are nice but it just doesn't flow IMO.
