Yeah it's 280,000 dollars but with the current situation $=£ it's just over 140,000 i think around 142,000 so a bargain! but i have no idea what brown and the thieves will take from me! i can ship the cdar for around £2500 (rough estimate) anjd i'm guessing i have too pay V.A.T so 17.5 percent?

It will also need to be UK registered, so will need an SVA, which will include chaning the lights, adding an MPH speedo, adding a rear fog light - might be worth a call to Lambo to see what that will cost. IIRC converting a Carrera GT from European to UK spec costs £18k. Also worth considering what the resale value might be.Cheers Rick
Rick,
If you are coming back to live in the UK you can bring a car back with you free of import duty and VAT, but you must own (and use) the car for 6 months abroad and have lived there for 12 months. You have to provide C&E with proof of this such as utility bills/car insurance/logbook etc from Dubai.
The SVA route should be fairly straightforward, you can email me through my profile if you want, my company specialises in this sort of work and I can give you some advice.
Cheers

Surely if buying it there brand new then you should be able reclaim or avoid the local taxes although they are only a fraction of the rip off we pay here.
LHD variants of our UK Lambo's appear to be anywhere from 20-40k behind a UK RHD sourced vehicle so it looks like a good deal at the moment.
Just wonder what will happen to UK prices if this supposed credit crunch takes hold???
A lot of previously hard to get hold of vehicles are now available at fairly short if not immediate notice?? This has to affect the residuals??

Ditto this - undertook this myself upon return from the US 2 yrs ago. You are also restricted from selling the imported vehicle for the next 12 months to avoid people turning a quick profit. Never heard that before...??May not necessarily be applicable now, but it certainly was when I imported the Mustang in 2005.
Thanks chaps, lots of food for thought! there is zero taxation here and zero v.a.t hence the price of the cars!! i was looking at a cayman s for the missus last week and it was 28k (pounds) new!!! and i just bought a new gti and it was 12k with dsg and a few extras's, just for the commute, same car in UK was 24k!!! madness also very small waiting lists.
