Autosport / Pistonheads Show - some of my pics from today
Discussion
Hi there,
Had a great day out at the NEC today for the first day of the Pistonheads show. Also went along to the Autosport trade day which is essentially part of the same show.
Loads of great cars, here are some pics you guys may be interested in (please click each image to view full size version as P/H does squish them) : -
Ferrari F430 GT2 car - should be out in Le Mans series in 2008

Great new X-Bow 2 seater track day car

Gumpert Apollo - only 2 in the UK at the moment and I have managed to see them both in the last few weeks. Had a good chat with the dealer, lots more to come from Gumpert inc a race version.

Superb looking Techart GT Street - quite like the colour as well !

Had a wander round the cars being offered in the Coys Auction and there were a couple of interesting ones: -
Road going Lister Storm

This is a rare one, a Fisker Tramonto based on a Mercedes SL55 AMG

Blue Countach Anniversary - anyone know this one ?

The Live Action arena is a big part of the show, there were two rather special cars taking part this year.
Gallardo Coupe

Anyone for Doughnuts ??

LP640

Some action shots - sorry if there crap it was almost dark in the arena !

Zonda F Roadster - wonder if the white barriers really need to be that close.

CR Scuderia chose the show to launch their 2008 FIA GT2 campaign and also displayed the 2003 F430 GT3 that will race in British GT

Prodrive displayed the new 2008 Gulf Livery that will be worn on the DBR9's when they compete at Le Mans later this year. Really like the look of this one.

Evo magazine had a couple of nice cars on display including this LP640 Roadster but I have to say their stand was really poor. You could not get a decent photo as there was always something in the way.

Lamborghini Birmingham's stand was better at least you could get a decent shot. Nice Gallardo Superleggera.

Last but not least one of the highlights of the show for me a Koenigsegg CCX. Never seen one of these before and was able to get a really good look round. Sorry for the poor light in these pics, the NEC has these horrible orange lights that make it really hard to get a good shot.

Going to the show again tomorrow so will try and post some more shots over the weekend.
Regards
Tim

That Apolllo was a truly awful car - £280k was its asking price and for that you got a carbon kit car. Nasty. The X Bow looked great though. Did anyone clock the Anniversario in a metallic beige/gold. the detailing around the windows was very poor and it had been poorly painted. I had to look very carefully to make sure it wasn't a replica - the finish was so bad.
I knew the original owner of that Storm - awesome car and the last one he owned before turning his allegiances to the dancing donkey.

Great pics Tim, (as always!)
The live action arena pix we were able to get in '05 were awful - and they were from the organisers! LCUK and Lamborghini London/Manchester had 7 cars and a Lambo tractor there for a press+four day version of this year's show... with 4 or 5 performances a day and far too much of that Jodie Kidd person about the place as well... We did recruit some excellent drift drivers to help us tho' and one of them actually got an e-gear Murciélago to drift about some, especially with the aforementioned unreasonably tall Jodie Kidd on board!
Also, re. that blue Anniversary: It has been on eBay, has been seen by some LCUK folk via Coy's and Oselli and is, frankly, a bit of a scruffy ol' bird especially compared to the 'actual' 5Star-blue car that's now in Scotland - I hope this car makes a decent sale price but suspect it may not / has not, ho hum...

Tim
