Hello,

I am test driving this tomorrow and going from a 964 tip so I am imagining a decent performance difference for the extra 150 bhp....? Also more of an 'experience' car perhaps?

I was out in a friends 430 a couple of days ago, and whilst I'm not quite there a Gransport is within range and should be something pretty exciting I imagine....The Porsche is great fun but I ned to get into he modern age...

So , has anyone bought one recently and have any tips? Also, does it blip he throttle on the downshifts....?

Expensive servicing? 'Gremlins'? Or a sorted machine that will provide much joy? I will know tomorrow obviously but does it sound good? i was also thinking about an M3 CSL which sounds the nuts but I have yet to go Italian and I think it is time.....

Ok, the colour is not for everyone but I can drive a few and chose if I like it...Also I drive a Viper Green 964 so can get over that aspect possibly....

Any advice welcome, thank you!

I got my gransport just before xmas after a LOT of looking. Fab cars, real easy to live with (considering it's a performance coupe) - I'm missing a bit of the practicality of my Audi S4 & the 4wd in this weather but all things being equal it's so much more car.

The gransport is a much more exciting drive than the porsche but you'll either like it or loath it I think. Gremlins? Umm nope.. not really. There are plenty of scare stories & the running costs over a year aren't 'cheap' but about 2-3k should cover it. the F1 pump is possibly a bit fragile, they can eat clutches if driven badly\traffic\reversing up hills. CD changes can fail (have a hard time over the rear wheels) no sure if they are replaced or just reconnected & 'paired' up again.. warranty fix though.

Blip on down shift.. stick it in sport mode & hell yeah smile The sport button will remap the throttle, modify the sky hook settings, also changes the traction control\msp settings to allow more slip before the lights come on. Oh & the party trick.. opens the butter flys in the exhaust.

Any questions just shout.. have a look at http://maseratiforum.co.uk & say hi.
