Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster in Yellow open headlights
Discussion
Hi there,
Was on my way to see a client this afternoon in Cheadle near Stoke on Trent. Just trundling through the town when I saw a Yellow Diablo coming the other way. I slowed down to let it come past some parked cars and watched in awe as passed along side me.
What a stunning car, and still for me one of the all time supercars.
Definately not seen this particular car before as it was the open headlamp version. I thought it was a coupe but according to Autotrader the plate (13KN) is registered to a 1999 Diablo VT Roadster.
Can someone in the know tell me how many VT Roadsters (open headlamped) there are in the UK as it can't be many ?
Regards
Tim
ps I know we have a spotted post at the top of the forum but this car was extra special.

hmmmm...
There were only a tiny number of '99 spec. open headlamp SV's, so I'd make a good-sized bet that there aren't too many Roadsters either from that year (which always cost more than the SV anyway and were never as popular) ...
So, my stab of a guess, pending a more precise figure from somewhere other than here:
not more than 7 cars
which is how many really strong mints I'm betting - prove me wrong and some Altoids await!
edited to say that one of them was Rod Stewart's car as sold recently in Scotland - Stokes not that far from Scotland, even in January!

Dave,I thought you might have an idea how many. According to Autotrader the car changed hands in August 2007 does this fit in with the Rod Stewart car.
Saw another Yellow Diablo this morning at about 8.30am on the M1 heading south around Sheffield J35. This one had the rear wing and Black wheels, but I could not see whether it had the open headlamps or not.

Yellow Diablos are actually not that common even by the obviously uncommon standards of Diablo 'clotting' happenings - especially in January!
... and as a devout non-spotter of anything much on the roads, I'd say you must be some sort of magnet if you saw two in one day - well done!
Warrens' car is the SV closest to camera...
the ex-RS Roadster is in the middle and...
a gorgeous Giallo Midas SV is the car furthest away...
Those Altoid mints are still unclaimed, so, first to guess the location of the picture above will win, er, 1 of them...
... guess correctly that is, not just have a wild stab at an answer and come up with an something like 'somewhere in the UK' or 'North of the Thames' - although both of those are good clues!!

It's Carlo's place indeed - Actually the Altoid mints are currently rattling around in a tin in the glovebox of 'erselfs Civic and therefore a new tin shall be purchased very soon. (There are LOTS of things in the glovebox of my wife's Civic and most of them will have adversely affected the general quality of the mint in question...)
You've got my email and can remind me of your address that way...
Was that Roadster in the pic the car you saw yesterday or were you just in a colossal Lambo-spasm all day and so you can't be sure?
I remember, not that long ago, (noise of creaky old wheelchair and malodorous pipe being lit) when seeing 4 Lamborghinis in one day in reasonable range of each other would have meant they were all heading for a Club meeting - especially at this time of year!

Hi there,Wasn't the car in the picture unless the new owner has changed the wheels as the car had the correct wheels and not the Black aftermarket ones.
Quite like the term 'Lambo-spasm' though.

It's what happens when you see more Lamborghinis than you were expecting to see - it applies everywhere. You'd see a similar reaction on the faces of people everywhere in the world; one is great, two fabulous and more than that almost too much of a good thing for some people! Back in '03, at the 40th Anniversary celebrations, I recall seeing the faces of some of the people who actually live in Sant'Agata as the seemingly endless line of Lamborghinis drove through their town, one after the other, for what must have felt like hours. They were all smiling, cheering and waving and this from people who must see them every day, (or could), whether they want to or not...
In '04, Cristina Guizzardi (who is the curator of Museo Lamborghini @ Sant'Agata for anyone who doesn't know her) came to the LCUK marquee at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Cristina sees Lamborghinis both old and new every day of the week at her place of work.
'All' we had to show her were three cars - and none of them a new one as we weren't allowed to show any current models. They were a silver '97 spec. Diablo SV, a bright red Urraco 250S and a very black Espada III with roof paint so perfect it was (is!) like looking in a mirror.
She was open-mouthed and/or chattering away like any passing Lambofan...
No one is immune!

The RS Roadster reverted back to its original wheels after that picture was taken. Chances are that was the car you spotted

Hi there,
No way, Kendo Nagasaki owns a Diablo !!!! Spent years watching him when I was a kid.
Seems pretty genuine as Peter Thornley aka Kendo Nagasaki (as per wikipedia) is from Stoke on Trent (only about 5 miles from where I saw this car).
