e-gear on murcie problem, any similar stories?

anyone had problems with their e-gear unable to select any gear, just had engine out and clutch replaced and now got to have the engine out again £2000 ! with a e-gear selector fault could be some thousands of pounds for the unit ! , i heard that this is a 'common' problem?. i broke down in the car after changing from first to second at high revs 14,000 miles on a 2004 car and could not get any gear and coasted to the side of the road, any other similar stories?
