456M GTA Torque - between 70-80mph - is there any?

Test drove 456M GTA last weekend and was a little (OK alot) taken aback by "lack" of torque between 70mph to 80/5mph - car did does not want to move as I would have expected. However, on reaching 85 - all the torque kicked in and I smiled again.

Is this "normal" auto thing or does this sound like the auto was about to drop!
