Ok, as I near my 456 purchase - can anyone point me in the right direction or comment on: 1 Insurance - assuming I have a 2000 model and expect 2-3k miles per annum
2. Warranty cover - for eg Aon? - is this worth the guilded paper it is written on - are there conditions on the car to qualify and
3. Garage Door - should I go for a roller door to give myself better access or drive very carefully and slowly? Side note, anyone guilty of opening car door into their garage wall? Is it true a special wall of sponge might help?!

3. Roller garage doors are great. Haven't got one myself but will asap.
carpert works great on the walls of your garage if you don't have much room.

With regards to the garage, have a look at polystyrene ceiling tiles, stick them on the walls rather than carpet...

IMO those plastic roller doors look a bit cheap and flimsy. I'm looking at replacing two single doors with a large double door and all they seem to want to sell me is a roller door. To match what's being replaced I need a steel door with leaded lights, but I just can't get any realistic quotes. The last quote I had was around £3k for the door and over £600 for the motor.

If you're worried about scraping the car I've heard that carpet on the walls helps and a tennis ball on a string hanging in front of the end wall.

If the roller looks cheap, that is an issue. Will update as have garage expert round this week for advice and quote no doubt. Otherwise, will sweat out near carpet type burns or game of tennis with my garage wall! Have to admit, I did hear that Aston Martin supply wall sponges for this type of scenario - all rather bizarre and practical.

Cut in half (along it's length) "Armaflex" pipe insulation and fix it to the walls for door protection and screw down timber blocks to the floor so you can reverse up to......works for me!!!

3. replaced my garage doors with insulated 'sectional' doors (Hormann I think) remote control powered etc ... very happy with them... as for the wall, I've put a bit of carpet up.. works fine for me...

Good luck with the purchase...
