Must admit one of the reasons I went for an F430 rather than a Gallardo was that I prefered the Ferrari's looks over the Lambo's rather boxey and angular (to my eyes) supercar take. However the new car has got me reconsidering - particularly when the tech/mechanical revisions are taken into account.

This month's EVO has something on the LP560?

Just a thought but perhaps they are paving the way for an LP560-2 and by moving the Gallardo further upmarket, this could create more space for the R8 V10 etc.

Just went home at lunchtime to find this months Evo on the doorstep

There is a full article with loads of pics of the new Gallardo in it!

Nice new rear end, not 100% sure on the front bumper, interior is pretty much the same!, 4 exhausts now, and lovely new rims.

Looks great in white too.

Does anyone know when deliveries start and the waiting time?
I've heard June/July for first limited RHD batch, with a load due in Aug/Sept. You should be able to get a Sept delivery car if you get your deposit down next week.

In brief - apart from styling changes which (IMO) are an improvement, it gains 243cc at 5.2L, 39bhp at 552, and 22lbft at 398. It's also 20 kilos lighter. More powerful than both Scud and GT2 but close to identical on actual power to weight. And that of course is the standard car. They also say e-gear improved, body stiffer and 4wd system lighter. If basic price is £130k as suggested then for me with the improved looks it may well push the 430 into second place. Had my order in for a long time so it's nice to have the option.

it's bugging me now that i can't think of another car where the number of cylinders is not an exact multiple of the number of exhaust pipes
seems like quite an odd configuration

They probably merge back into a single tailpipe behind the rear bumper, does seem like an odd combination though.

The only other car maybe is the Bug Veyron??

The pic from the front has been taken at a rather unflattering, low angle unfortunately so it's difficult to assess the changes properly. IMHO the Cordellia wheels fitted this car look awful and remind me of BBS wheels from the 80's.

How does this model fit with the Superleggera ? More performance out of the new one ?

There's no word on UK pricing as yet but I'm unofficially led to believe that it will probably be higher than the 6% increase being talked about in other European markets so that alone will help strengthen residuals of current cars.

Does it weight more than the current? Such a shame that all newer cars have to weigh more than the current ones.

Why not develop these cars like the 911 so there are 2 and 4 wheel drive options.

I wonder if the SL should really be 2wd.

No, this is the standard car. It weighs 20 kilos LESS (and has 39bhp more) than the current cooking G but weighs a bit more than the current SL.
