Anyone traveled on the Euro tunnel in a Gallardo or 430 as a have an R8.(Same size)
Are the normal car trains wide enough ?

don't fancy chewing up the rims !

no point posting on the Audi forum as I would be waiting all year!

Thanks

Anything lower or wider than a standard Mundane-o or Primerectra should book to travel in the truck compartment!! (Easy on and off and much wider...)

Yup, the ramps are OK and the "kerbs" are actually lower than the tyre wall so very difficult to kerb the rims.

Book flexiplus - avoids queues, riff raff etc - then, when you arrive at check in, ask the girls to 'phone ahead to the loaders who will then direct you onto the single deck (high loads) section. This is wider between the walkway 'kerbs' than the normal compartments where you do have to concentrate if you want to avoid kerbing your wheels. I found this much more relaxing in the F430.

When you book for the tunnel - tell them that your car is OVER 1.8m high.
That way you will go on the lower deck which has a wider track.

Also on the lower deck there is loads of head room - which is pretty good for Lambo doors!

took a 599 in the tall section a few weeks ago, fit with loads of room. Assume width is similar

Follow the high vehicle route when going through this will ensure wider track for your wheel rims and bottom compartment so no ramp the staff are ok with this.

Many thanks for the useful info !

I will book the car in as over 1.85 m high to get the extra width.

Took the Eurotunnel last year and width and ramps are not an issue on the train. The speed bumps on the approach to the ticket booths and customs need to be treated with respect though.

Tony manages to get his Diablo in the normal carriages just fine for the Le Mans runs.
