A couple of quick questions if I may....I'd like to take my GS to Bedford Autodrome later this year but I'm a little concerned it might not meet the noise regs - anyone have any experience of this?

Second question....do I stand any chance of getting insurance for the day and if so can anybody recommend anyone?

Thanks!

Track insurance is really expensive

The Gallardo Spyder has no hope of being let out at Bedford

iiwy I would go for a noisy day on the Brands Hatch GP circuit - I thought my car really suited the circuit

I'd favoured Beford for the lack of crash barriers just in case my capabilities run dry ;-)

Maybe I'll look into somewhere like Marham instead; seems to be talk of there elsewhere on the forum so that could be a good choice as it's not that far a trip for me either. I've been to Bent-waters* a few times a few years back which was fine, except for the high amount of small stones on the circuit which peppered the front of the car badly.

try A Manning for insurance - 01491 578 759.

They do a great policy a reasonable price that includes unlimited trackday cover with an excess of 10%.

A lot trackday regulars use them.

As for a good venue for the Gallardo and someone new to trackdays, I would try Silverstone GP, Donington or Rockingham (international circuit).

Try Goldtrack or Bookatrack. Make sure it's a noisy day (105db).

Yes you could play super safe and go to an airfield type venue - but most people agree they are incredibly boring, whereas driving any of the circuits above will be much more fun and still safe, provided you drive within your limits. If you haven't done a trackday before, book some instruction too.

One last point - a lot of people find that their first trackday isn't a lot of fun. Too worried about having an accident, too many cars coming flying past, not used to using the full width of the track. Hang in there though - by your 2nd or 3rd trackday you will most likely be loving it.

Don't go to Marham without film on the car - place is covered in stones

Thanks all of you for the suggestions. I've done about a dozen track days before (but not in the last few years) including a few at Ben tters so I'm very familiar with the stone chip problem. I'd hoped as Marham was operational they might sweep them up as I imagine one of those in a jet engine is going to upset a few technicians.

My biggest concern with run off areas was not wanting to end up on you-tube as the guy who stuffed his lambo into the barriers with no insurance. I might just be able to afford the cornflakes to cry into after something like that...

Hi, We've been to Marham a couple of times and the guys work really hard to made it both safe and exciting. It is a working station, the runways used are fully operational and as far as our experiences were concerned, also clean.
We definitely going again this year.
