I have recently purchased a Ferrari 348 - a excellent drive after 10 years of TVR ownership. The standard exhaust system is a little quiet and I have been offered a sports exhaust, secondhand, slightly dented but otherwise sound.

I do not know what the make is - could anyone advise approximately how much I should be prepared to offer to purchase such an item ?

Regards

Can you post some pictures of it? May help identifying it.

Which 348 have you got?

The GTB/GTS/Spiders are a different fitting than the earlier 348's especially if it is a Tubi exhaust you are considering.

Its a 1992 348 TS. The exhaust came in 2 pieces, perhaps I should ask for more details as I have no pictures of it; or just make a low offer

Anything other than a Tubi is a poor second best I'm afraid. They are the exhaust, along with a de-cat that really make the 348 howl.

£2k new but it is a must have in most people's books, you may find a second hand one for £1k.

If you find another make and it's only a couple of hundred then it may be worth it for a stop gap, but trust me, as soon as you hear a tubi'd 348 on song you will see what I mean.

(same goes for the 355s and Capristo exhausts).

A custom made unit in stainless with sport cats is about £1500 and will sound the business without any drone.

We have just done one for a Jag XKR, not only torque improvement to the level of a rechip but it sounded so good we got an order for another one within a week from another owner who heard it!!

Id rather go with a tried and tested item than a custom, they arent researched or developed in anyway.

Something like that. smile

That looks like it should be on show in an art museum, not on a car.smile

Thats what I put on mine (level 1). My girlfriend was not impressed with me getting her to peer through the gaps in the bumper to look at it!

It sounds awesome!

If level 3 is too loud and you wish to donate it to a good cause, then...

Hi

I think 102 decibels is the legal noise level!

De-catting isn't exactly legal either though! But who cares. They dont mute orchestras, and thats a similar level!

Our systems are researched and built for performance - with respect our business is building race systems so this type of exhaust is childs play. Sport cats have been developed for the new regulations in motorsport concerning emmisions, they dont reduce performance like OE items.
