Gallardo servicing in Italy?
Discussion
Looking for some advice from anyone who might have experience of this. My Gallardo is getting close to servicing time and I'd heard that the cost of getting it done in Italy is usually cheaper enough to justify heading down there for a few days?

So it's cheaper to drive from Suffolk to Italy and back to get your Gallardo service?
1700 miles round trip @ say 18 miles to gallon, that's 425 litres of fuel @ say £0.80 a litre to be generous in Europe. That's £340 fuel plus ferry crossing and hotels. Doubt it's £600 cheaper. Plus depreciation for humping 1700 miles on the car and it'll be half way to the next oil change when you get back home.

(music: Pearl & Dean theme as heard in the cinema... that's exactly 15 seconds long y'know!)
(voiceover: slightly Home Counties, 1970's style with some obvious cheesy-grinning, spangling-teeth happening)
Why not combine your Gallardo service at Sant'Agata Bolognese with a visit to our fine ice cream eatery, just outside the cinema?
We supply a range of bright flavours and not all of them orange or creamy-white based!
As well as the stunning range of metallic and triple-layer flourescent citrus colours, we also offer a number of mean and moody black, grey and brown ice creams as well as the brightest possible green and blue wonder-chilled-snacks...
(camera-shaky shot of over-Brylcreamed chap with large knotted tie and massive digital watch eating a Lyons Neapolitan slab in a square petroleum-based 'biscuit' 'cone')
Samples are available from our lovely hostesses which will be available during the intermission from
(crackling sound) (not same voice) Ena and Minnie (more crackling, some hissing)
We also are very close to a number of fabulous pizza restaurants where you can get even more very authentic ice cream and also the new and very exciting
(crackling sound) (yet another not same voice) Spaghetti Carbon... er, made with thin bits of burnt bacon (more crackling, even more hissing)
now, please enjoy tonight's film
GoldFingerCannonballRunItalianJob-Part 3
(another burst of the P&D music... that's exactly 15 seconds long y'know!)
IF you add some holiday to your service trip to Italy, you'll probably not notice any extra costs!!

Have you been drinking again, David?(voiceover: slightly Home Counties, 1970's style with some obvious cheesy-grinning, spangling-teeth happening)

certainly not... I've been enjoying the sunshine a bit whilst trying not to stare at the sun too much,
wishing I had a new garage up here in Lancashire to keep something other than old boxes full of krappe in,
waiting for the postman to bring the cheques that I'm assured are actually 'in the post' and also,
getting the LCUK magazine together... (nearly done!)
next question?

Sorry, I should have perhaps mentioned I was thinking of taking a continental trip anyway, so it's a little less of a diversion than you might have thought. As for the mileage depreciation...well, the car's for driving, not for investment purposes.1700 miles round trip @ say 18 miles to gallon, that's 425 litres of fuel @ say £0.80 a litre to be generous in Europe. I would be interested in the price too.
If the price is right and you have the time then it makes for a good trip in my opinion...I'd prefer to spend the money on petrol whilst driving and enjoying my car than give it to a dealership
I had my car serviced at the factory last year, and labour costs were approximately £35 an hour. Obviously the exchange rate is working against us at the moment, so the savings won't be quite as great, but if you're going to be in the area, it's a worthwhile exercise.
Just reminds me, I need to get mine booked in for later this year.
