308 GTB passed the MOT
Discussion
It may not have been one of my wiser buys, looking in the clasified on piston heads and spotted a 308 in need of a bit of love. Done a deal on the phone and collected it a few days later. It has been of the road for around 5 years but with regular starting and moving. It looks like its been loved most of its life and has full service history I got to the collection adress and it looked realy good but was only running on 4-5 cylinders and all the brakes were stuck on. Had a right game loading it onto the trailer.
Got it home and set about recomishoning. Rebuilt 4 brake callipers along with new pads and s/steel braided hoses and also replaced most of the brake pipes and rebuilt the master cylinder. Engine wise I did all the filters and fluids along with new plugs and rebuilt all the carbs with weber rebuild kits. I also changed the cam belts to be on the safe side. The window washer pump and jets were blocked with stale water and one head lamp would not pop up. took half an hour to wash out the water pump and clean the washer nozzels and half an hour to locate the problem with the head light, a relay had failed. I also regreased all the wheel bearings and oiled all the door hinges and the normal stuff you do on a big service. It passed the MOT first time and so far has been great fun. Just need a tubi exhaust or some thing like and summer her we come.......

Thanks for all the kind comments. The wheels are compomotive 16" split rims and I think very simular to what was fitted to the 288 GTO. It took me and a mate around 3 days to sort the car out and with out any labour bills worked out at a bit of a bargin. I got it on the road including tax and insurance for just under £15.5k.
The car has had a brand new interior as it spent a lot of its life in Greece and the sun dried out the original but was very good for the body work. The car is cosmeticaly chalaged in a few places but is rust and rot free. Its a good usable car and will be soon doing a 900 mile round trip to Cornwal.
Its good to be getting a few nice cars back in the garage after the clear out due to my ill health and the collection now stands at a fully rebuilt 1962 mg midget for running around town in the summer , the 308 GTB and i should be getting the mercedes E55 v8 compresor estate on thursday if the mercedes garage ever finnish servicing it. Im just looking for a single seater formula ford or simular car for track days and i will be a happy man.
who realy needs a Vanquish or a 360 spider.........

Just a quick up date.......
So far done around 2500 miles in her (should realy say `it` rather than `her`, but she seems to have got under my skin. The more I drive her the better she gets, she may not be that fast, it may be heavy to drive in town, it may well use more petrol than any other 3ltr car in the world but its got some thing no other car I have owned has. Its got...... not shure realy, it maybe the exhaust note, it maybe the weber carbs sucking in air just behind you ear, it maybe the steering or the way you sit in it. What ever it is I cant keep from driving her...) Problems have been zero with a few litle niggles. It leeks water around the bottom of the window sreen, door handle cable streched making the door handle ratle and a speedo sensor going tits up.
So far running costs since she went back on the road have only been petrol, in fact an alfull lot of petrol other than that its been cheap fun.
