LP560 - Manual or E-gear ?
Discussion
On the SL, I find it very throttle sensitive in first and reverse ( in/out of garage is a pain ) and far from smooth at lowish revs.
It also has a few idiosyncrasies which I'm struggling to drive around :
1. If you want to change down from 3rd to 2nd as you approach traffic and you're a second or two late, the system can decide to automatically change down at the exact same moment as you do, so you get 1st, complete with a monster lookatme throttle blip.
2. If you hit neutral whilst slowing to a halt in a queue of traffic ( good for clutch life apparently ), and then need a gear before coming to a complete halt because the queue is unexpectedly moving again , then it's pot luck which gear you get.
The 560 may be improved in some of these areas ???
Otherwise, it's great to be able to have rapid, smooth changes always available at the flick of a finger. It also makes messing with clutch and gear levers in other cars feel primitive.
Unlike a conventional auto, I find egear a pain in town but preferable to a manual on the open road.
Finally, egears were outselling manuals by several to one on Gallardos, so the resale market for manuals would presumably be even smaller.
