As the title suggests, the brakes on my 550 seem squeal all the time. I've tried some heavy braking to try and alleviate the problem and tried to wash out excess brake dust but to no avail. Dealer says "they all do that". Is this true? Have any of you had / solved this problem and if so I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Not come accross this one before, so I would suggest that your friendly spannermans conclusion that 'they all do that' is incorrect.
Previous experience with other makes would indicate to me that your problem is material based. Have you modified your brake at all? There may be an incompatibility issue between disc and pad. Sometimes taking the pads out and taking the edges off them can help, or taking the glaze of them, but your man will already know that. So a new set of pads would be my bet.

Yes, that's my conclusion too. I've ordered some Porterfield R4S pads, so fingers crossed they'll solve the problem.

I'll post the result. Thanks for the replies

I've had my 550 for 6 months now and it hasn't done it once. The dealer is talking out of his hat.
