someone wants to treat me to a day of something fun...and he would really like to do somethnig car related. naturally I'm happy to do that too! Was condering a day at GTs or similar as a laugh...but he has about a grand to spend on the 2 of us so I thought we might be able to get an entertaining driving experience...preferably supercar related.....

Would give SimonG a shout but sadly I cant relaly be bothered to go that far North......and from a purely selfish standpoint am not that interested in hacking around a badly wrung out and limited 355 or similar......(but he would be very happy with it so...)

so...any good ideas anyone?

Cheers

Oh come on - thats just laziness! Southerners rolleyeswink

Get yourself up to York and a have blast in a couple of Simon and Andy's cars.....with that much you'll have a blast and a quality night out in York - which I highly recommend BTW!

How about hiring a car for the day? You could get something for about £800 and spend the rest on a nice lunch somewhere.

excuse the blatant plug but this is exactly the market we're best geared up for (http://bookatrack.com/-pb?54). hiring a caterham for the day for around £700-800 between the two of you will ensure plenty of track time compared to the usual gift experiences. feel free to drop me an email if you want more info (jonny at bookatrack dot com)

alternatively, assuming they will take just 2 bookings - you could try Palmersport at Bedford (might be out of budget though).

Finally, and purely in a vague effort not to get censored - you can also hire cars from people like www.track-club.com and www.udrivecars.com/

Easy - has to be a Jonathan Palmer day at Bedford autodrome.

You drive a wide variety of cars, including single seaters, new Jag, Porsche, Caterham, Clio Cups, JP1 and a Palmer audi.

The most awesome day i have ever had and that includes when i drive my Gallardo (on the road :-(!

They teach you how to drive fast and then allow you to go to and beyond your limit..

Worth every penny!

Cheers

thanks for thoughts guys...selfishly again I've done the Palmersport thing rather a lot ...utterly brilliant (though the GT3 ws a massive letdown for me).....but maybe not different enough.....

bookatrack...totally brillianty...am a member and use you guys already......so again, awesome fun (and will keep as backup) but not different enough.....

hire car for day and lunch might be a grin....but seeing as manufacturers will send me cars to play with for free it kinda feels wrong paying to hire! now if I could borrow the LP640 for a grand then we're talking!

Seconded - brilliant day out. The Jag JP1's and the JP Formula Audi's are great. The Jag XKR's are wierd - it's like driving a playstation - any slip and the ASR kicks in - so you have to steer RIGHT INTO the armco to get the power back. You'll know what I mean when you do it. And the Caterhams - well need I say more! The Clio's with their sequential gearbox's are brillinat - most dull drive is obviously the off road 4x4 - but it does run the 911 (auto's) very close...

The instructors are superb - You'll love it nightmare
