biggrin

I have spent 5 months putting something together and had gone very quiet on it since I first asked a few questions...

However.....

Yesterday, I took delivery of this...

biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

(I don't know if there is a 'smilie' limit per-post but I couldn't begin to put up enough of them to even BEGIN to illustrate how I feel right now!)

Many, many thanks to everyone who has helped (you know who you are!), advised or otherwise supported me in realising a childhood dream!

I would like also to publicly thanks Carlo and his mechanic at Top Gear Cars who has absolutely pulled out all the stops and put himself out to get the car to me at Supercar Sunday itself! biggrin

... guessing that you got home OK then Robin!

I've seen lots of new owners with happy grins and stuff like that, but rarely anybody as over-the-moon, big yeehaas as you were yesterday.

Corking car mate - hope to see LOTS of it in future!

Thank you for all your time David, the whole process would have been a lot more difficult without your experience and advice biggrin

My friend Karl just posted a bunch of youtube links elsewhere so this is 'his' post:

Well chuffed for you, the car looks stunning. I know how you must be feeling. I'm sure it will give you the 'shakey legs' feeling everytime you open the garage door for many many years to come.

Great to see someone realise a dream and be seriously stoked about it.

That's what it's all about.

What I didn't know until after delivery is that this is, apparently, according to Carlo, the ONLY Diablo in the world in this colour biggrin

I love it!

What do you think of the non assisted steering then?

I have no problem with it.

...but I'm not a fan of PAS anyway

My Esprit is 'au naturelle' and is actually possibly even heavier at low speeds!

There's not a tremendous difference in clutch 'weight' either.

I'm not 'into' driver aids (pas, Traction Control, DSC etc) - I'm definitely a Lotus owner by mentality - If I wasn't so into 'supercars', I would more likely aim towards the Exige, Atom, Radical, Ultima, Noble neck of the woods smile

Must admit I was quite surprised to see Carlo at SCS, but when he explained what he was doing there, I knew someone was experiencing the 'ear to ear grin factor' that takes a considerable time to subside.

Good luck to you and I hope you enjoy the car.

Thanks!

Yes I sent the entirety of the day grinning like an idiot. On my way to work this morning I had to open the garage on my way out, just so I could take a look at it for a few minutes (and open the doors!) biggrin

I can't wait to get home from work and pray it stays warm and dry so I can get out in it for at least a half an hour before dinner!

My friends are already queueing up wanting to go out in it!

Congrats, bet you're well happy with it. Its the best feeling getting a new car, especially when blessed with nice weather as well, even better if its a Lambo smile

I must admit, i was up a Gaydon yesterday just walking past the little pay kiosk bout 11.30ish, few cars trikling past and this came past revvin up every 5 seconds then it stalled...I did chuckle to myself. Now I know this was prob the first 100 meters you'd driven it...you are excused!!;)

Now stop reading this and get out and drive it whilst the suns out!

its a gorgeous car robin, and if anyone has looked at the youtube vids ^^^^^ im the lucky person getting to drive said beast.

it wasnt only robin having a grin ear to ear, so did i. when i sat in the diablo for the first time,
robin turns round gives me the keys and says "take it for a spin then, your insured" it took 2 seconds
to sink in "im what" ....."i have but you on my insurance as a named driver"......"no way you are joking
arent you"......"no im not"

didnt know what to say, i was shocked.

thats one amazing friend as someone pointed out to me when i drove off in it later in the day and
there 100% correct.

thanx robin, not bad for a mr2 with a bodykit eh LMAO.

Robin, what can i say mate that hasn't already been said.

been a long few months while you got this all sorted and am really pleased the dream is now a reality.

the look on your face says it was all worth it.
It was almost comical as we were sorting out the delivery arrangements, you didnt know what to do with yourself (apologies for telling you what to do!)

Now as a few people have said already, get off this forum and go and drive the thing!
