Maserati Gransport
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Considering a change to something a little different and liking the look of these.
One question though, all the cars in the classifieds don't seem to have sat nav (a MUST for me, I get seriously lost).
Does anybody know why? I'm assuming it was at least an option.
Was it rubbish/too expensive/not available?
Thanks

I've got an 06 gransport & nav was indeed an option. It's a becker online pro headunit with nav & phone (gsm, via sim) - works just fine, no real problems. It's not as intuitive as a tomtom but works fine once you get used to it. Handy that you can plan a route online (or a single destination) and 'go get it' from the headunit via the phone\wap. Also handy that you can say find the nearest italian & call it on the way to make a reservation.
On the whole gransports are pretty sorted with few problems.

I haven't kept an eye on prices for these but they seem to me to be a bit of a bargain.
2007 models at 50k, 2005s at about 35k.
I assume they took a hit with the Gran Tourismo coming out, or is there a deeper darker reason for the cheapness??
A 4.2 litre V8 when petrol is £1.20+ a litre? I haven't kept an eye on prices for these but they seem to me to be a bit of a bargain.

As said above, just becuase the GS doesnt look like it has nav (i.e the screen ala the 4300), doesnt mean its not got it. From what I have read, the nav shouldnt be a deal breaker as a TomTom will do much the same for around £200.
Happy hunting.
lol, u gotta laugh about these things or you'll cry!
Can I ask how long you've had the car, how do you rate it in general?
It seems we have similar driving styles, I tend to do mainly short journeys with the odd 40 mile trek. Maybe 5000 miles a year.
The majority tends to be with foot to the floor with multiple stops at petrol stations

Nish, If somebody was willing and able I’m pretty certain Vario Senior would part company from his 07 5k Gransport for under £50k ;-)
Now this might sound daft but I really am at a loss as to why it is quite as ridiculously thirsty, certainly when I drive it is down in the very low teens fuel wise and its not as if the car is very heavy or mega powerful either but boy can it drink fuel.
None the less on a nice sunny day and a sweepy long road its an absolute gem but I think if I was after an everyday GT that’s hugely thirsty I’d probably go fro an M6. It seems a bit of a waste to subject a Gransport to a crummy British winters day and still to my mind at least is a very nice second car.
Performance is my other question mark, I think they quote top speed over 180? Never in a million years could I see the Old Mans car pulling that hard but there again he’s very forgiving, he had a Bi-Turbo

I got mine at the start of december 07, it's my every day drive & I do drive it every single day. On a motorway\cruise it'll get 400 miles on a tank of gas which by my maths works out to be ~20mpg sport mode & a sunny day sees this drop but not excessively so. Mine also lives on the drive & was subjected to lots of snow lol.
To be honest I've been really surprised, my last car was an Audi S4 avant - practical performance & although I'm missing being able to sling the mountain bike in the back I don't have any other complaints. It took a while (2-3 weeks) to fully adjust to rwd again having been in various turbo 4wd motors for the last 7-8 years. The Traction control.. is pretty good. In normal mode it can kill the fun a little when it's tight & your heavy footed but in sports it's pretty relaxed & will let you show boat a little. In sports mode it's more of a precision instrument, in normal it's a comfy GT. Best of both worlds.
The seats are very comfortable (one of the reasons I bought it) as I regularly used to do long stints at the wheel north-south. In fact, the whole cabin is a nice place to be & well screwed together.
I've got a few options on mine (basically LE spec less the mirror) & the spec\colour combo\condition took a while to find but was worth the wait.
Support from the dealers has been good so far. We've had our teething troubles & they needed a rattle but they've gone the extra mile so no complaints.
All in all, if you like the look of them & are in the market for that sort of car.. get one! If you haven't had a decent test drive yet, go arrange one!
Oh & I'm 6'7 - fit in with no problems & can actually fit in the back behind the driver with the seat set for me without any issues.
If there's anything you want to know, pm me.
Cheers
