Can someone explain to me why I see a significant number of Ferrari's with large yellow Ferrari badge stickers on the front wings, between the wheel and door?

Is there a particular historical appeal for these - or is it just a really vulgar way of saying "yes, pedestrian, I really DO own a Ferrari"?

Scuderia shield were originally only used for the racing cars.

Became an option on later road models.

And what do the cognoscenti think of the badges on road cars?

If the factory in Maranello think its ok to fit them to road cars. Then who are we to argue?

I think they look right on the more race-oriented cars like the F40, 360CS and 430 Scud because the badge, like the car, is a nod towards Ferrari's racing prowess, but I'd leave them off the standard spec cars.

Never, it is a great money spinner for Ferrari at around £900 to £1,100 as an option. I've bought them twice now!

All Ferrari's are special, some are more race bread than others depending on whether you want to use it possibly on a track or you need a gran tourer for the road, Yes the shields are part of Ferrari's racing history, but so to are ALL of their cars, Its a personal choice, with or without its still a Ferrari. clap

they have to stamp the wings to a slightly different shape
handily, this also prevents retro-fitting less expensive alternatives
sorry if i sound a little cynical, but 'tis so smile

Well, if I could afford a Ferrari it would def. have wing shields - I'd even settle for retro-fitting stickers - and I wouldn't give a damn what people think - it ain't their car!

Personally my choice would depend on the car. I wouldn't have them on a 308/328 because they'd interfere with the pure, clean lines of the car, but I would probably have them on an F430 which looks 'busier' to begin with and therefore is not going to be ruined by even more fuss on the bodywork.

I think it they look good. They provide a nice colour accent, especially on a red car.

Could I have a £ sign in gold when I get my red F430? silly

While I accept it is up to the owner, I personally think it looks a bit odd.

i like them. bit like the challenge grills, personal taste. retro fit ones can look awful though, but there are some ceramic ones i read on here or somewhere. as a previous poster said, the real ones are recessed into the wing and feel ceramic or metal
