Schuey Completes Testing Of California
Seven times F1 champion has been developing the California before launch
Michael Schumacher has completed road and track development of the new Ferrari California. The seven times Formula 1 world champion has been involved in the development of the latest Prancing Horse road car since its inception and has been honing the car before its launch. The 8-cylinder car, which features a folding hardtop, is due to be officially unveiled at the Paris International Motor Show on October 2nd this year.
‘I have to say that, as with the 430 Scuderia, participating in the project since the very beginning has been really fascinating and great fun,’ said Schumacher at the end of a test session at the Fiorano circuit. ‘Although the cars are very different, they both offer absolutely unique driving pleasure because of the inherently sporty character of all of the cars that come out of Maranello.
'The 430 Scuderia is, of course, a more extreme model with a focus on absolutely cutting-edge performance. However, although the Ferrari California is very much a Grand Tourer in terms of its usability and high level of interior comfort, it is still surprisingly sporty and fun to drive under any kind of conditions.’
At a Ferrari dealer convention in Maranello recently Schumacher explained the differences between the two 8-cylinder cars: 'They were designed to meet different requirements: the 430 Scuderia is aimed at drivers who want the very essence of a Ferrari and will get it out on the track as often as they can.
'The Ferrari California, on the other hand, is designed for everyday use and for weekends away whilst still guaranteeing all of the emotional impact that only an authentic Ferrari can deliver.'
Will reserve judgement on the rest untill I get to see it in the flesh.
If anyone has seen it at one of the preview events, I'd be really greatfull if you could share what you thought of the rear seats (assuming they had a 2 + 2 on show).
Which is rare for someone with even a fraction of the success he has had.
Obviously in private he could be a complete T****R, but I imagine most people can only judge him on what they see at races/on tv/etc.
Even the unbelievably biased ITV F1 team seem to quite like him now he isn't beating our British drivers into submission.
Also because the way he destroyed Damon Hill who for some reason is the peoples choice despite throwing in the towel when he didn't get everything his own way.

Wonder who Scui's script writer is. You can tell his comments are scripted as none of them started with "For sure....".
Here's a thought provoker though. F1 drivers all set-up their cars differently. Therefore, if an F1 driver has input into a road car, will it be tailored around their driving style or do they get the car setup in a way that they think Joe Public would want it?
Sorry but he was just better than everyone else.

I can see the issue some people have with some of his wins. But for the vast majority of races and all those titles, can you honestly say theres an issue with the manner in which he won?
Think Hamilton and Alonso may well get booed on each others home race tracks.
BTW, didn't Hamilton/Mclaren do the same thing in the last race that Schumi/Ferrari were booed for?
