Metcalfe's car? Page 148 Evo 121, same spec, same mileage, £3k below published trade in?

Tis indeed Mr Metcalfe's old car, and not at all surprised that the published trade in was higher than the actual value.
I would like to bet that Harry took more than a 15-17k hit on the car rather than the ten reported. I know of at least two other ex evo cars that had a 'strong' trade in price.
It matters not to me, I just don't particularly enjoy reading inaccurate ownership reviews.
Hey ho.

Agreed.Does anyone know what happened to the Maranello that he ran? I used to follow that long term test with great interest but felt a bit in the dark at the end as he never told us (the readers) what he sold it for but said that it cost him 105p per mile (over 30,420 miles / 18 months) of ownership but that seemed a bit too good to be true... It can't have been easy to shift such a relatively 'high mileage' car when every other car that it would have been up against would be showing less than half the recorded mileage...

I wonder if it is the blue one that can be seen parked in front of the Mini Clubman in one of the pictures within this months EVO?Rpm
I had just emailed EVO to ask them about this, before finding this thread. Bet they don't print the email!
Any views on the right time to buy one of these? Sorely tempted at £65k for a car under a year old but do wonder whether might be wiser to hold off until next Spring. The unknown is whether the trade-in of my '02 911 will continue dropping at the same rate - Maranello could only get a bid of £22k against one of the GTs they had in at the weekend. Bought from a main dealer for £39k 18 months ago. Ouch!

Got a very swift response from Harry at Evo: he did a sale or return deal with the dealer who wouldnt take it into stock but hadn't sold it by the publishing deadline. So he estimated what he thought he would get. He's disappointed at the drop since but fair play to him for responding quickly and fronting up at having got the guess wrong.
