Hi guys...

I have a 1994 2WD Diablo (Not an SV), just a 'base model.' Pretty much stock and unmodified.

  • Which Brake Calipers would that be most likely to have? Girling? ATE? or something else entirely? (It has NOT had the Brembo conversion done on it) I'm hunting good brake pads - Does anyone have any recommendations?
  • Is there an OBDII socket on the car somewhere or is it too old? (I've looked underneath the dash - on both sides)
  • Does anyone know if the Lambda Sensors (3 wire) are a standard Bosch unit and if so, which one?!!
Many thanks in advance....

Hi Robin,

I think Dougie at Topgear Specialist cars is your man!

Hi Warren,

Thanks for that - Is he Carlo's chap? Very good idea, since he was the last man to work on it! I should have thought of him myself! :-$

Cheers,

Robin

Pads are BMW 6 series, Take them off and go in to a motor factors they will match them up,

Lamda probes NGK can be used, When you take the Bosch ones out they can match the part number, Or just replace with Bosch,

OBD plug is under the dash on the drivers side,

I would have thought that a sports exhaust would be a must.
The ones that I have heard, sound incredible.
A lot of early Diablo 2WD owners favour the Brembo bigger brake upgrade.

If you go for the later (larger) Brembo Calipers, then the pads are from BMW 7 Series (E38)/Skyline and the others from Porsche 911/928/944.

Do you think it would be creating a 'sticky' and forming a complete list of Diablo Parts/Alternative Sourcing options?

Not seen that before. Do you not think that this list can be improved upon? Certain that many other parts are available elsewhere. This would be a good place to collate such info. A friend of mine seems to know lots of sources.

Not too bad. Actually, no, most things crap. Will give you a call and depress you.

"spent yesterday sitting very still" Guess your wife didn't notice you were ill then.

Pete,

Whats your thoughts on the 2wd? Did you puchase from Carlo, if so what one? Any pictures as I am a Diablo diehard.

I'll be on the look out in the near future but was thinking a VT for obvious reasons but it is useful to know from yourself what you think of the car.

regards,

Matthew

All diablos are great, but the 2WD is not the easiest to drive (the VT and roadster are). But the VT is not the quickest (the SV is the quickest of the sensibly priced cars). An early SV has less to go wrong on it than most diablos.

Did not purchase from Carlo (assume you mean Carlo from Top Gear Cars), but have viewed cars with him before. Think he is a genuine guy doing his best, and would rather deal with him than any other dealer, although a private sale will get you the best buy if you can find the right car.

Have sent you a PM
