Just bought myself a Ferrari F355
Discussion
It's a 1992 K-reg, Rosso red, cream/black leather, manual.
I'm told it's quite rare, it's a pre-launch model so I'm told. It was the prototype model that Ferrari themselves took upto the Tyrol mountains for reliability testing. However, I have noticed a few things, it's not that fast? I've been reading reviews on the F355 and people said it was blisteringly fast, 0-60 in 5 seconds, top end of 180mph. Thing is though, mine doesn't feel that quick. The owner told me the mass air-flow sensor needed replacing. I think I have a broken exhaust too, but the previous owner again assured me that it was an after-market Veilside special one-off piece. I mean, don't get me wrong it is VERY loud but it doesn't sound like other F355's I've heard. Also...is it true that Citroen Saxo's are quicker than F355's from 0-40mph? I think so because I've had alot of these VTR's and even standard 1.1 Saxo's beat me off the line, although admittedly I was going uphill and I know the F355 has a b*gger of a clutch.
Anyway guys, I paid £49,750 for the car. I think I might have paid slightly too much, but considering it is a pre-launch model AND a prototype that Ferrari used I think it'll be worth a fortune in about 5 years time.
Here are pics of my pride and joy,

(check out the rare Ferrari carpets!!!)
What do you guys think? I think she is a stunner and with abit of TLC she'll be perfect!
PS: The girls LOVE it!!!

I think you paid bang on the money for the car; Ferrari usually crush their prototypes. Sensible buy given the credit crunch - these cars can only rise in value and as Nick Cartwright said in this month's Octane, there are a lot of nasty examples out there. The car looks so good, I did wonder whether you bought it from Nick?
Do you have photos of the engine? I ask this because I think its a replica, and ask yourself why would Ferrari make rhd prototype? I don't have a problem with replicas as I have a Countach rep myself. The lines of your car are all wrong, dont forget that the 355 body is virtually the same as the 348.

I think the original post is a joke
What a beauty, and such a bargain for a real genuine piece of history! I love the proportions and lines, just oozes quality. As for performance, dont worry about it Ferraris are tempermental so you have to accept getting smoked by Saxos once in a while.
They dont make em like they used to

I did hear that sometimes the dashboard and interior could go sticky and shrink. Luckily they seem to have solved these issues in that pre production model.
ps.. do the doors open scissor-like too?
I've just noticed that my F355 looks different to yours. You can't even tell yours is based on an MR2 at all. ps.. do the doors open scissor-like too?

My girlfriend was telling me about her friend Katie’s boyfriends Asif’s Ferrari that he brought at the start of the year. My girlfriend not being totally clued up on Ferrari ownership (her 1st comment when I got mine was “Its blue”) knows it’s a red one so having an interest I asked her to find out which model it is.
She has since asked and been told it’s a 360 which he paid £65k for. To cut a long story short we met up with a few other people including Katie and Asif a couple of weeks ago and things did not go to well.
After listening to Asif talking about his car I thought I should pop my question, “Whats the reliability like on you car?” to which he responded “not that bad but you expect a quality product to last”. Hearing this I had to do the “I always thought Peugeots were a bit sketchy” line at which point Katie commented that what’s a French car got to do with it?
You can probably work out the rest of the conversation went and how embarrassed old Asif looked.

He paid £65k for a fake 360??She has since asked and been told it’s a 360 which he paid £65k for. To cut a long story short we met up with a few other people including Katie and Asif a couple of weeks ago and things did not go to well.
