If we put aside cost and dimensions on the Murceilago, is there any other reason why many people say the Gallardo is a better option for frequent use.

Is the Gallardo more reliable for example?

Murci is massive, and doesn't like speed bumps much.

If you can get past the cost and dimension issue, and have a nose lifting system to get you over the speed bumps, the only negative with the Murcielago that I can think of is that it is significantly more difficult to spell. Well possibly that plus all the time it would spend off the road whilst it's in for engine-out servicing....

Please check SimonSpider's various 'posts' here on PH and in evo over the last few years (and in LCUK's magazine as well...)

it's 'i' then 'e' an accented 'e' as well and spelt as it means - being the Spanish word for 'bat'... why Sant'Agata didn't call it the English word for 'bat' is a mystery, or even the Italian word...

Simon drove SG54 about half a billion leptons until he and Andy Cummings went halfers on a LP640 last year... which gets driven a very lot of muchness as well - they have a reputation to be maintained after all!

although, perhaps the Lamborghini Pipistrello wouldn't have sold too well... perhaps...

Gallardo is just much easier and imo more fun to drive around town/city

+ it fits in almost all parking spots

but if your daily drive to work is out of town then I cant see why you couldn't use a Murci

Surely the fuel used is a joke with the Murci when used as an everyday car and i remember EVO's long termer Murci had the most ridiculous of bills over the year.A friend ran a Gallardo for a year adding approx 6k miles and it cost practically nothing bar two rear tyres and 2 litres of Oil.

The Gallardo really is THE everyday supercar in my opinion.

My Gallardo 14,000 miles, two front, 4rear tyres and I average ~ 9mpg a day (sometimes in the evening I have got the computer down to 3mpg)+ lots of that AGIP oil which is not easy to buy
I think the guy at Shell thinks I'm mad arriving there twice a week at 5.45am

I still drive the Orange one a lot..they are ok as a daily driver apart from the sheer size. Forget parking on a street and in a multistory. Speedbumps are ok as long as you use the standard lifting mechanism. However its very slow to lift on the Murcie whereas the LP640 is more or less instant. Biggest problem is the attention it attracts which is great for the first 2 weeks then (if you are trying to get from A to B) becomes tiresome. Depreciation? Well it happens only when you sell it. Which is why I still have mine although it still works for a living. I treat it like an old Aunt now (with about 70k on it) whereas the LP640 is only a teenager smile

How much would you take for the old girl, Simon?

I don't even want to go there. Try not to think about it!

Good question. I'm surprised nobody has ventured a guess but I would say 60/70k tops at the block. Still a lot of car for the money and since the V12 was rebuilt it hasnt given me a minutes trouble. And its been hammered round a track since then for 7 hours at a time on 17 occasions. Not bad for an old girl smile
