Lets get real - no dealer would tell you that the car has been stolen recovered if its not be recorded! So whats the catch?

well-its a dodgy colour! I bet they cried when it was recovered! It is totally correct of them to declare that this happened to the car as if you somehow found out later, then they'd be liable for not having informed you. Good on them to spell all this out

Yeah but they say they have spent £11k fixing it - and then put it up for a good £7k below expected market value. It must be mechanically knackered or there is something else....

With the funny colour and now dodgy history and the credit crunch, its probably around market value...

Absolutely poverty spec - doesn't look like it's got a single option on it.

Maybe its their way of accounting for the dropping prices of cars without it looking like the arse is falling out of the market. Like when someone is trying to sell you a great diamond ring or watch for less than its worth becuase its 'stolen'..remember that scam

As long as it has air con I wouldnt need anything else.

Usually a decent stereo would be required but as this car has a Tubi exhaust I probably wouldnt even need that.

Its a sports car not a big executive cruiser. If you want lots of toys buy a Lexus.

More often than not, vehicles take a wee while to get logged onto the HPi register, if they have been declared a write off. I once learned that the hard way when buying privately! If the dealer sells the car and the car appears on the register 4 weeks later, the new owner is perfectly entitiled to throw the car back at him and demand a refund. And would you want that car back...again?

Best thing to do is ring the dealer and ask if the car was written off by the insurance company, they then paid out, and if HE then paid to get it fixed. If so,the car will appear on the HPi register at some point, I would imagine as a stolen/recovered vehicle. If not, then to quote Paracetemol, "Maybe its their way of accounting for the dropping prices of cars without it looking like the arse is falling out of the market."

By the way, that car has been for sale for an absolute age. By it cheap, wrap it in that matt black wrap, and enjoy the last 4 weeks of the summer.

How are cars like these actually stolen? I realise it could have been taken from a test drive, but is it more difficult to steal these cars, technically, compared to a run-of-the-mill car?

But you'd want to pay an appropriate price I presume. The fact that it appears to have no options would be one explanation as to why it appears to be quite cheap compared to other cars on the market that have more options fitted.

...things must be bad if you have to make up stories of stolen/recovered in order to sell a car!

There are currently 5 Gallardos on ebay with for sale prices of mid 60ks to low 70ks. Sign of the times maybe?

Of course. Perhaps its just me being a former Lotus owner where options were few and far between. I think people get a bit silly with options on these sort of cars.

When people use the term 'poverty' spec I tend to think of cars like Caterhams with no heaters or windscreens not cars which dont have airconditioned massaging seats.

I like that colour too. Slightly out of budget for me though, even at £65k!

Mind You, It's Very Irritating That The Person Writing The Description Chose To Capitalise The First Letter Of Every Word. Makes It Very Unpleasant To Read.

With all the publicity you can see exactly why they are declaring the fact...Their excess will be at least £10k on each car and so its not worth them claiming, hence their own spend on the car..some of which probably already needed doing (e.g clutch etc)- factor in the colour, spec and time of year and the car is the right price...like the idea of a matt black wrap smile
