Anyone know of any companies that would hire a Ferrari to a 21 year old with a clean license held for 4 yrs and 2 year no claims. Required for a wedding. I found someone who would hire me a R8, but struggling to find any Ferrari's.
Thanks

+1 I'd say 25 minimum, some are even 30 dependent on which model you want to hire.

You should be able to hire it via a friend/relative how is of age and have you added as an additional driver though I would imagine.

i dont think it would be financially viable. the thing is, is there are a lot of under 25yr old prats out there, who have no respect, no thought, no discipline when it comes to other peoples property. which ruin it for everyone else.
look at it from this hypothetical point of view
you come up to me, want to rent a ferrari or lambo of my company, your dressed smart, you look respectable. then i think, well the guys who rented the cars that got smashed up the other week also looked the same. if i rent you this car, for £800 for the day( i dont know how much they cost to rent btw) ive then got to think, i could make £800 here, but i could also loose £80,000 here. young driver, no experience of a car like this or anything remotly like this. i would say no

whilst being the same age as yourself, and liking high performance cars, the privilage has been taken away by a handfull of idiots for everyone.

you could try getting it in someone elses name, and if you do make sure the owner/company knows you will be driving and there insurance company will cover you, thats the other big issue, the insurance.

I do not own or run a rental company above is purely hypothetical

I remember looking in to this for my wedding about 8years ago. Same result then, nothing below 35 and very very limited below 30. So nothing recent had affected the market. Its probably the insurance co that is restricting it as opposed to the hire co.

Check the adverts in the back of car mags (top gear, etc) and go through all the companies. Depending on how slow business is one of them may risk it. Althought the recently publicised events with the hired Gallardo won't help you.

But be prepared for a kick in the nuts on the rate and eyewatering terms/deposit.

It may be more prudent to try and strike a deal with an owner. Unlikely they will let you drive the car, but you could get driven in, use it for the photo op, etc.

Good luck with the nuptials

Its a local company owned by a friend of a friend. Not sure of the name, can find out if you wish.

Its not actually for my wedding, its my brothers wedding. He is 27. I'm just required to drive him to the Temple in the morning, so something with me as a named driver would be ideal. Will ring around some companies and see if I get lucky.

Zero chance.

There have been at LEAST four supercars wrecked by young pricks who's Daddys hired them for "family religious events" in the last couple of weeks. None of them had any respect for other peeople's property or lives.

You can thank them for the fact that no one under 35 can rent something like this now.

There are plenty of people over 25 without respect. As someone who used to deal in supercar hire cars I can tell you that middle aged men between 35-45 are most likely to act like an idiot in them(also seems to be the age range of people who like to sg of drivers of supercars). The older generation are the only ones who rarely tried to thrash them.

The other posters are correct. 30 is the minimum age across the board. This is set by the insurers, not the hire car companies.

Even if you could get insured, could you afford it? You will need to provide a £5,000.00 security deposit. One day's hire will cost you at least £1,000.00 on top. If you were to crash the car then the insurance excess tends to be £5,000.00.

So you need a credit card with a limit of at least £6,000.00 and you need to be prepared to lose £5,000.00 plus the cost of the hire if you crash the car.

It is not like going to Enterprise or Budget or Avis etc and renting a Fiesta and paying an extra £10 a day for the full collision damage waiver, so that if you crash the car, you having nothing to pay. There is no such thing as full collision damage waiver with supercar hire.

30 is the most common age that hire companys insure against. But there are several companies out there that hire to over 25`s such as Ecurie 25. And you are right you do need to be prepared to lose the deposit if you have an accident. You also need to be prepared to pay for other costs like tyre wear, clutch problems, scrathes, alloy damage etc. Plus there is always the extra milage charge you have to pay as well cos you dont normally get many miles for your hire charge.
