performance air filters - worth fitting or not?

Was thinking of fitting a pair of "cotton gauze" type panel filters to the 360. I know about the potential issues of oil on the MAF but has anyone on here fitted similar or experienced any problems? Do they actually deliver what they say they do in BHP?

What do they say they deliver extra? If it's close to zero they're telling the truth...

Wouldn't do it just in case they didn't filter out all the particulate matter and some nasty was ingested. Also, I'm led to believe that they only give a power gain with old mechanical injection systems, and not modern sequential electronic systems. Wouldn't bother.....
