Considering a tubi or Larini for the G. Problem is i don't really want to piss off the neigbours or, more importantly, the wife, when i leave the house at 6am. Are these much noisier at low revs than the stock system, or is it just when you give it some wellie?

I can't comment on the standard exhaust as my G came with a Tubi already fitted.
What I can say though is that the Tubi is loud, deep, agressive and, in a word, magic!
(Even when the car is sat idling).

Your wife may find it OTT, and your neighbours may start to hate you, but trust me, it is well worth it for the smile it'll put on your face everytime your hear that roar when you fire her up! cloud9

A mate used to have Larini bypass pipes and Larini muffler. Too loud, he then put back the OEM muffler in combination with the Larini bypass pipes, and that combination was just perfect.. Those bypass pipes are also not really expensive !

If you think the Tubi on its own is loud, don't decat it as well then, as it sounds like a fighter jet with that combo cool

Can you not get one that has a 'valve' that you can open or close remotely ?

The Tubi sounds great, and not too loud at all. BUT when you first start the engine it IS REALLY LOUD and will definitely wake people up. It calms down after 30 seconds or so but until then you will probably grimace! If you can start it in the garage with the door closed you'll probably be ok, if you don't pass out from carbon monoxide poisoning first.

The carbon monoxide poisioning option is preferable to upsetting my wife at that time of the morning. Oh well, looks like i will have to take a chance...

I think Capristos have a remote to open/close valves to make it more or less loud. Not actually sure if they do it for a Gallardo though...

Capristo can build to order, if required. I believe the valve system is a common option

Hi all, I replaced the original system about a year ago with a complete Larini system (including sports cats) and I must say it sounds brilliant! The quality of the product is first class. But if you're not looking to fall out with the neighbours by having to leave the house at 6am, I probably wouldn't recommend it! If you want to know what it sounds like with a complete system, go and buy a ticket to an F1 practice session and listen to Lewis Hamilton go past in his McLaren Mercedes and that will give you some idea as to what it sounds like smile But saying that, if you don't need to leave the house at 6am, I can't recommend buying one enough smile The guys at Larini are really really helpful, and I would fully recommend contacting them if you're considering a replacement system on (0870) 777 9060.

I suggest before you do any of the above that you can try disconnecting the pipes to the bypass valve (only experienceed this on 06 spec cars and later as the OEM exhaust sounds much better) - its a 20 min job adn results n the valve being open at all revs not jsut over 3.5k revs....

And yes its loud....spits crackles adn sounds great on overrrun
