Now I suspect that most of you guys and girls on this forum with the newer cars have paddle shifts. So what do you now do now with the spare foot dangling in the footwell, have you learned to left foot brake in true F1 style and if so what advantages does it bring to you driving?

No Ferrari/Lamborghini for me, but I always use my left foot in autos and paddle shift cars, gives my left leg something to do.

from my experience of 355 and maserati i dont think the pedals are in the right place for easy left foot braking. I have tried it but found it a bit confusing and probably would have crashed eventually - but maybe thats just me smile

I always use my left foot for braking in auto/tiptronic etc cars. A bit confusing in the beginning, had to spend time to get use to it (to feel the brakes, not brake too hard etc) but it is OK now & gives better feeling of the car

I use my left foot to paint artistic drawings and to push the CD changer button.

But seriously, I do find that my left foot aches more when im in a paddleshift car, not sure why but I think its coz it it just sits there.

So judging by a couple of replies here, it appears that on long journeys the old left foot can end up with a few aches and pains because it is not being used, would I be right in this assumption? or are you just so used to driving autos that you are now used to it?

I always left foot brake in F1/Tip cars. It's second nature now, I just have to try to remember not to when driving a 3 pedal car!

Yes.
My left foot rest lightly on the brake pedal all the time. (needs to be there on the steel-brake equipped 430's which are woeful at stopping).
430/612/599 don't really have the pedals set up for it but can be done just fine - Enzo's pedals can be directly set up into positions for it to be ideal.
