They are very realiable. The lack of reliability is a myth on modern ferraris. At 2400 miles a year you should not need a great deal of maintenance; Cambelt every 3 yrs £400 (specialist), yearly service £600 (specialist), major every couple of years £800 (specialist).

Clutches are expensive if you are hard on them (or buy one that is fried) £1500 (mainly labour)(specialist)!

Ball joints tend to go, there are lots and they can work out expensive.

Get a PPI to make sure all is well with car before buying.

There are loads of threads on 360's so do a search for more info.

Woeful tales of poor reliability are usually spouted from the mouths of people who have never had the pleasure of owning a Ferrari ......more than likely a jealous dig to try to spoil your enthusiasm .......

To add some balance, a friend with a 360 has had it 6 months and its had an engine rebuild and now just heard the gearbox needs an overhaul due to synchromesh failing. Has also had issues with cooling fans (2 failed so far)

That is very unusual. I have never heard of an engine failing on a 360!! What was the reason?

My 360 was faultless in the 12 mths I had it ... way better than the 355 before it - but I blame the 355 having such a low mileage and being garaged so often for all the problems.

By contrast my mate's 360 had fault after fault and his was the same year as mine - he had a water pump failure, gear box mesh problems, exhaust system problems and some other minor things - all done under waranty thank goodness. They are on the whole reliable cars - just make sure you buy a good one with plenty of receipts and history. One with a bit more mileage may not be a bad thing !

Ironically his 355 that was faultless - but he used it almost everyday and did about 10k a year in it .. perhaps there is a lesson to be learned? Every sports car I have had I use regularly and "touch wood" they have been faultess.. can` t wait for the next one !

There are always exceptions to the rule .....generally though the 360 has proved to be a reliable Ferrari that can if asked be used as a daily driver. Buy sensibly and look for a comprehensive service history ....higher mileages are nothing to be worried about unless you plan to keep the car for a short period of time. Cars that are driven regularly also tend to be less problematic than those that are "permenantly garaged". Get out and start looking as there are lots to choose from...

Sounds to me like it's a bit of a lottery- whether you get a nice, well put-together 'Wednesday' car, or whether you get a 4.45pm 'Friday' car- when the Ferrari boys are rushing to the nearest pub.

The only faults are generally electical as with all modern toys....alarm, fuel pump. Not heard of any real issues, good solid machines.

Think u should get the FXX though hehehe

Very much like TVRs (I note the OP has a Griff) - the more you use them the more reliable they are - it's the garage queens that can cause the problems.

F1 or Manual you need to decide by driving both I have had manual 360 spider and before purchase drove F1 2002 car and did not like the F1 but now have CS and like the F1 on it!
Get the colour you want but if you are only going to keep the car a short time resale red maybe best for you.smile
