gallardos are finally depreciating.(Not slowly either)
Discussion
I can see Gallardos bottoming out around the 40K mark...eventually. Even Murci's won't be immune to this. In time, I can see them around 50k. Unfortunately, you no longer have the security of knowing that your car was produced/imported in very low numbers. The sheer numbers of these cars available at any one time will, IMHO, always tend to depress values.

They will bottom out well below £40k going the same way as the F355...Just depends how many years you willing to wait.
its not an astonThe Murcie is still well below with regard to manufacturing numbers. How many Murcies have been made 1500???

See: the "Supply & Demand" thread! My worry was that the sheer volume of Gallardos might 'dilute' the Lamborghini name... (not in a quality sense as I love them, I think they're great cars)
The major part of it was the ridiculous exclusivity / rarity of the Marque that you almost never saw one! Gallardos are realatively common. I see more Gallardos than I used to see 308's/348's/355's as a kid!
Sheer rarity and mystique add an element of elusive, unatainability and an implied additional 'quality' to the product.
The more common it is, the less of a 'big deal' it is.
Case in point - the R8 - It's a very competent car but the sheer fact it has Audi written on it means for a huge number of people - especially the supercar buying "conspicious consumer" is not 'wowed' by it in the same way. Ditto the GTR35 - A blistering car by any definition and similarly will sell DESPITE the badge!
I was looking at the white R8 up for raffle at Edinburgh airport this week and as I politely declined the geezer who was trying to sell the tickets, my wife said to me, you wouldn't want one of those would you, you already have a Porsche! (a Boxster I would add!)
Actually, I'd love to try an R8!
I love Gallardo's too but I'm amazed that the early ones have held up so well for so long and an adjustment was well overdue IMO. I suspect that they'll stabilize at around £50k for a while as although there are a fair few around, they'll always be a bit special when compared to say the ubiquitous 911 Turbo.
Next icon to fall may be the 996GT3's IMO... The RS versions dropped from £90k to £60k within a space of 6 months about 2 years ago but have stayed steady since but it can't last forwever as a steady supply of used 997 GT3s will surely begin to appear.

I have auctioned two cars in the last two weeks. One 04/04 Gallardo E-gear, Import. Yellow with Black, 35,000 miles Specialist service history. fetched £62000. Second 05/05 Gallardo E-Gear. Orange with Black, 28,000 miles. Specialist service history. fetched £68000. Both cars were a bit tatty looking. Doesnt seem that the cars are doing too badly IMO.

Yeah, but why are you auctioning them rather than stocking them?bertie said:

Yeah, but why are you auctioning them rather than stocking them?To be honest if you are wrorrying about depreciation then dont buy a car at all - they are not assets chaps...by the time it bottoms out there will probably be something else you want . To be honest i dont care about mkt prices ... to get in this thing and drive to work/gym/rugby/abroad is a pleasure....sure i could drive a eurobox for 2 years adn then step into a tatty one for 50-60k ... but what a waste of 2 years.....Find waht you want set yourself a price adn go for it .... for me i think the LP560-4 is lovely but has the same problem as the 575 vs 550 ...the newer cars are great but when someone wants your car plus the same value to step into the new one , which is marginally better the equation doesnt work...id expect to see gallardo (06 models +) bottom out soon (once the i bought one on credit need to pay my balloon off crowd are out ).... been looking at 430's lately but they jsut dont ring my bell anymore.....bull for ever !!
