Thanks to all that have come back on my original post. It was a hell of a weekend. Still can't get the smile off my face. It's just fantastic!! What .... a .... car cloud9

I haven't taken a pictures yet as I've been too busy driving, but I will get round to it.

Quick question though ...... nightmare getting into reverse initially. I'm told that's usual when the gearbox is cold. Is it? Really is a struggle and goes in on the 4th or 5th effort. Anyone else have the same?

Congrats, glad you're enjoying it. Have no problem getting into reverse in mine, hot or cold. Assume you have clutch fully down (sorry I assume it is manual?). Better have it looked at.

Hi,congrats on the purchase.
My 04 Manuel car used to be a pain to select reverse (followed a 1,000miles later by first being a pain too!)
It was caused by the clutch pressure plate being worn. Do you know the history of the clutch? ie what spec etc??
Anyways after the replacement it was fine! Guess you could do with getting it checked?
Good luck, they are a great car!!

Sounds like clutch - before you go that route check that the alignment is correct on the gearchange adn also check when gearbox oil was hanged (there is an additive they add to it now as well ) - old gearbox oil reknowned for making it sticky to get into gear (oil loses its viscosity adn makes it harder to change gear)...if none of these solve it i am afraid it sounds like clutch ....

Mrs. Richards: What are you talking about, you silly little man. (turns to Polly, Mr. Thurston having gone) What is
going on here? I ask him for my room, and he tells
me the manager's a Mr. Watt and he's aged forty.

Manuel: No. No. Fawlty.

Mrs. Richards: Faulty? What's wrong with him?
