He mentioned that he'd be selling it in his Sunday Times column last week. I didn't realise it was ex-Evo.

Didn't Harry Metcalf (EVO mag) have several problems with it, including a gearbox re-build (covered or mostly covered by warranty I believe)?

Journo's need to write about something. The only failure was a tupence ha'penny switch wasn't it? And anyway, a brand new gearbox will hardly put anyone off it. Seems great value as it's probably had the most exposure of any 550. Bargain in fact. Go on, you know it make sense smile

He said that about his Maserati Gran Turismo.

I would have a hard time parting with that. One of the best cars ever made IMO.

seems very good value, especially when you consider the value of the vanquish, a probably competitior when new

I've seen a 2002 Vanquish for £55,000 before with less than 40,000 miles, excellent car for the money despite its flaws. I would almost rather have one over the 550 for the looks and noise alone.

In fact if I had a spare £100,000 the two of them would make a great garage along with an old E38 BMW 750 for the practical stuff. One used Gallardo or two V12 Supercars and a big old V12 shopping trolley? Hmmmmmcloud9

Might not be quite so cloud9 once you work out what the running costs on those 3 might be. I'll take the Gallardo ta.
