we have today been offered voluntary redundancy packages @70k, if i was able to find another job straight away is there a supercar out there that is on the floor and could be purchased and then sold again in 12 months for minimum loss?
total pipe dream in all honesty but any opinions welcome.
thanks

A mint 355 should hold its money well or for more cash a good Diablo.

70k redundancy? That figure sounds extremely high - you must've worked there for some time on some wage - unless you are on 'gardening leave'?

Bare in mind that you will need to pay 40% tax on any redundancy over £30,000, so your £70,000 is more like £54,000. Other option may be to officially declare yourself living outside the UK in a tax haven like Jersey, Cayman Islands or Monaco etc for more than half the year.

Lucky position to be in though. For that money, if I was to spend it all on a car then I'd probably go for a Lambo. Or perhaps an older Fezza/tourer and a track toy like an Exige or Caterham or Westfield (love the Megabusa). Then there's the original/modded Fiat 500s (not the new ones!) I quite like as well.

If you want to have the car now, and happy with price/taking a loss then go ahead, but IMO don't do it if you can't afford to take the hit. Nothing will hold its value in next year, other than maybe a Nissan GT-R!

Until a load of speculators drop off losing their £3500 deposits!

If I were you I'd keep the 70k to one side until I had another job. You may tempt fate by blowing it.

Ditto the suggestions of a F355 or Diablo.

I went for the Diablo option wink

Everything is going south at a rate of knots - I would save your money. If you must buy, wait until at least Xmas. You can get a good 355 for less than half your redundancy now, or you will get a £70k 430 by December.
