it's just a normal 430 with expensive brakes and quite new.. in a couple of months time, it will be a year old and will swallow-dive like all the others... how to sell it in this crappy market... make it cheap!

it's not like they are thin on the ground at the moment.

Have a look through Ferrari/Lamborghini dealers right now, prices are dropping by the day. A friend was going to jump in on a car now (choosing between Ferrari or Lamborghini) but will wait as since trying to decide on the colour the cars he was looking at have dropped £3-5k on the asking prices. This car is not unrealistically priced, given that it is a private seller with a new car that no one currently wants. Try calling up a few dealers and see what they offer. I bet my bottom dollar it won't be more than 95k if bid on at all. There are so many F430s for sale at the moment (call a dealer and ask if they will get you a new one at a slight discount!).

The market is swamped, between 360's and 430's there are 450 cars on autotrader, now compare that to BMW 6 series (500 cars) or Audi RS4 (197 cars) or VW Lupo (256 cars) which have a much wider market. Most people who are looking to buy a 430 are probably just going to let them burn a while and save 10k or 20k by delaying 3-6 months.

...because this is a 6 month old car that seems to have lost a THIRD of its price!! A year ago he would be advertising this car at £135K and selling!
The scary thing is that if a 6 month old is £100k then how much for a 2 or 3 year old?? It just has a domino effect not only on F430 prices but F360 etc ..etc. Hence anyone who has bought any high value car in the past 12 months (me included) is now truely F####D!

As I suggested before, anyone who thinks a piece of metal with an engine and 4 wheels is worth £100,000 is a mentalist.

Why would you be F*****D?

Its only bad news if you put down a tiny deposit and financed the rest.

Only if Gallardo's would fall like that... looking good for me though because in Ireland a 07 F430 would cost about €220,000 and to import this one I could land it for about €200,000.

Roll on next summer and if it keeps going like this I'll have a Gallardo biggrin

Because he's lost a lot more money than he ever anticipated doing so? Same as many other assets bought costing them more than they accounted for. We all know the cost of most resaleable items isn't what you pay for it, but the spread between that and what you sell it for. With values dropping so fast so quickly, someone could save 10k easily by waiting for a month or two (I agree with sjn). You can't say "if you bought wisely..." because the state of affairs has been unprecedented in recent history, or "why do you care about depreciation..." etc because clearly most people do. You'd be an absolute idiot with no place having such a car if you didn't (or very wealthy to the point £10k for waiting two months really is pocket change, in which case you should have some dignity and buy an Enzo/CGT/Veyron and not pauper cars lol wink). Put simply, if someone told you to wait a month before buying the car of your dreams and you'd save £10k, would you do it or wait? If you'd go ahead and do it, then you truly do not care about the depreciation, and you CAN take the piss out of the rest of us lol.

All with lots of biggrinwink in case anyone takes offence!

Anyone buying a brand new £150,000 car and thinks they can get out of it without losing a stack of cash is deluded. In any financial climate. He would have lost at least 20% by driving it off the forecourt. The ad doesn't actual say what the owner actually paid so his losses may not be as bad as some people think.

The OP obviously has a similar car so I was wondering on what plane he is "f*****D" e.g. is he stumped purely because his car has dropped in value? is he up the creek because he has heavily financed it?

This is kinda where I ended up going with this!

If you don't want to lose your shirt, stop keeping up with the Joneses having to have THE latest doodad! tongue out

There are SHEET loads of awesome cars out there that can be bought with a minimum of depreciation.

I personally would be looking at 355's, Testas/512's or 360s (imho I don't see them going a lot lower than they have already now), Diablos, Countachs, Jalpas Then the lower initial-value cars - like Giugiaro *Turbo* Esprits (mine has actually APPreciated! redface ) GT3's, S4s's & V8's etc are still all over the place, TVRs, Nobles etc - LOW volume cars which aren't going to pay a huge "supply side" price when/if it comes time to sell!

I can't help thinking the DB7 is the indicator of what's to come - Astons always used to be very high priced and exclusive / low volume. The DB7 was probably the first high value car to sell by the absolute bucketload and they've gone below 20k! I wonder if there will be a 'premier league' and then 'first division' of Ferrari's and Lambos? With (oddly) the newer cars' values going below those of the older cars purely due to the reduced exclusivity? Or do you think it will force 355 / 348 prices even lower as people think "s0d that, I can get a 360 for the same money?" My gut feeling is the former but I admit that I have no real evidence to base it upon - it's just my instinct.

I've not mentioned porkers as they've always been ridiculously high volume (relatively) and their values have long ended up down around the £10k mark

I wonder if today's events will see a handful more of these "priced to sell" cars popping up from squeezed owners!

Alternatively - if you HAVE a 430 already - You have a F*ing awesome car already... unless forced to sell - KEEP IT! smilebiggrin

I would add to that, most TVR's are staying level in price, except for one, that is slowly climbing (Sagaris).

But yes, if you can afford to, either stick with what you have, or wait and get yourself a bargain...

The Seller (Ben) is well known on here and is a broker / trader who also has a nice white LP640 Murcielago.

The 430's in the classifieds start at under £80K now and there are about 150 of them for sale. If you have one and need to sell you are up against a lot of competition so the only reason yours will sell is if its cheap enough or you are lucky enough to find someone who wants your exact spec.

In comparison Porsche 997 GT3's and GT3RS's seem to be holding their value far better. Not that many for sale and GT3's are still high £70K's. Bearing in mind they were about £50K less than the 430 when new they seem to be fairing a lot better. Perhaps they are more of an enthusiasts car rather then the latest must have car for the poser crowd?

Is it the quality of the photo or just me - but that interior looks really shabby for a 6 month old car. Never been a fan of black interiors in a Ferrari!
