Yeah they were... But then people thought "I'm paying 100k+ for an Audi...?"http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/733475.htm
65-70 is the right price!!
IMO I always thought they we're over priced. There in the same price league with Lamborghini, Ferrari and high end Porsches.
Dont get me wrong its a nice looking car but its still an Audi.

The era of the £80k F430 has got to be putting serious pressure on R8 values..
Doubt it. Different cars really. Both in terms of class and performance though more in class. F430's are very common these days the R8 however is not. The R8 is also not very obvious whereas the fezza kinda shouts "look at me!" so they appeal differently much the same as the gallardo v R8 argument.jimmyb said:

I could get a gallardo but It will potentially strip my accounts bare. Or i could get a fezza its ok but tbh they have gone the wrong way styling wise and the only good looking fez is a 355 and backwards. They are also horribly common much like Bentleys.
What is the point of buying a "supercar" that everyone else has. In my book it takes away some of what is most special about it.
The R8 is classy understated and reliable. It wont be needing a new clutch every 7-10k. It wont fail unexpectedly etc.It might make it more boring the the others to a degree but its just the way it is and I assure you thats how anyone in this market will look at it. Some will say f
k it I dont care how much it will cost or how often it will break down or what people think. Calculator said:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but thats one statement I thought I would never hear! This is a fairly low spec R8 and the price indicates little depreciation compared to the original price. I am not sure about the "can't afford a Gallardo" comments perhaps the smart money does not want to lose their shirt, because if you can afford a new R8 you can clearly afford a used low mileage Gallardo. Personally I prefer the looks of the Gallardo over the R8 but I am not sure I could like with the conspicuousness of either a Gallardo or an F430, and the R8 is hardly inconspicuous

In fairness, he never said he had owned any of them, so he only has subjective opinions to go on. I never thought I would own a Lambo, I always thought they were a bit too flash and look at me type of car. Fine if you were in your 20's or 30's, a bit embarrassing for 40+. Not sure where that opinion came from, but having owned one I don't feel like that at all, although I'm sure plenty of others think look at that flash cock!
Your right, he never said he owned one, but his post did.And your right, having my orange G at 27 was amazing for me, having it at 47 would of been cringe city.........
Look on the bright side im not one of them. I like them all its only that some to me lack that individuality or specialness due to their being too many around.
As I said look at the bentley conti they are the wealthy mans mondeo they really are that common which takes away from it somewhat. The ferraris are the same. Lambos not so much.
It's why I like alfas. They are not two apenny and they are also beautiful cars to look at. Sure at times its style over substance but I would rather have that than a bmw. I have an audi at the mo which is bullet proof has never really let me down but I find it tedious not special as there are loads of em and its just very clinical unlike the alfa I had which was seriously temperamental and which cost me its purchase value in a year to keep it on the road.
