Paris '08: Ferrari California

New folding hardtop Ferrari California gets first motor show outing...

The Ferrari California had its first outing at a motor show last week. Two of the new folding hardtop V8s appeared on Ferrari's stand at the Paris Motor Show, one in metallic blue and the other in red. The Californias looked stunning in the flesh and it is understood there is already a huge waiting list for the car.

OK the back isn't wonderful but I do think that's a good looking motor. I really didn't understand it when the Top Gear team sgged it off so much...

Have to see it in the metal I think.. back does look quite large though.

I wonder if the stacked exhausts are still 'dummies' on this prototype, the previous ones were comically small.

I think it looks a bit like an Invicta. Though, if it had a Marcos or Invicta badge on it nobody would buy it.

Ah I get it now. It is like all other modern cars and needs huge wheels to look proportioned.

No official announcement on price yet. Expected +/- 5% of F430 price.

By god thats ugly side on! Horrible swage line, and the front wheel arches look too high. Nice idea, badly executed frown

back end looks badly unresolved. Could do with the entire thing being 10% smaller to 'fit' the alloys!!!

Why do modern cars look so underwheeled unless rolling on 22's?!?!?!

So this is a Ferrari for people who would normally buy a folding top Merc?! Not sure that is a market that Ferrari should be in. Styling is very naff when it should be very beautiful.
