Does anyone here have any idea when these cars will begin going up in value? Or has the gradual weakening of Gallardos prices ensured that early Diablos will hover around the £45K mark for many years to come?

A Diablo is a proper "bonkers" supercar, built in Italy by mad 5ft 5 inch Latino studmuffins. The primary aim was to create the most outrageous car ever. No thought to practicality or ease of maintainance. Believe me, I spent two hours today, just fitting a new battery to mine. You have to jack the car up, remove the nsr wheel, remove the wheelarch liners, and reroute various hoses and cables to extract the old battery, then relocate the new one.
The Gallardo is a (dare I say it) mass produced Audi. Albeit quite pretty.
Diablos are THE bargain supercar at the moment and sure to go the same way pricewise as the Countach before it.
I don't think your Gallardos are going to go the same way.
If you think your life is boring, or life is passing you by, go out and buy yourself a Diablo. You will wake up in the morning with Jason King's hairy chest, the body of Adonis (well in your mind, anyway) and an address book full of the best young ladie's phone numbers. Go do it now, while there is a credit crunch.

cool

I couldn't agree more!!!!

To me they are everything a REAL supercar should be!

I've had girls following me in the car... I mentioned on facebook the other day that I was wanting to go out driving in it and in minutes got 5 replies ALL from girls! X-D

I've had an ovation from 20 Italian tourists for simply driving past Harrods and constantly get tourists stepping out into the street to take pictures / video of the car!

They are brash, loud, exciting, sexy, outrageous, supposedly impractical / difficult - but you would be amazed at just how quickly you get used to the clutch / gearbox / accelerator etc :-D

I love it and there's nothing like it on earth except a Countach or perhaps a Zonda!

The doors... They go up!

Here on the mainland, prices have gone up already !
Furthermore, good examples set you back 50K and up, under 45, you might end up with a money pit !

God I love my Diablo biggrin Who cares what they cost biggrin

girls follow you anyway Robin...
they dont have a choice.

i've often told you to let go of the lead, but thats another story

despite being an f-car owner i agree with Robin...
the diablo brings with it a true sense of occasion. something the later cars simply dont do.

if any car of this ilk was to hold its value i would suggest the Diablo
(i went for the 'practical' option as i drive the 360 a lot...15k miles last year.)

Diablos always project a sense of occasion.
My plumber has just turned up to fix my combi boiler.
He has just spent 30 minutes in the drive ogling and discussing my Diablo.
I hope I'm not paying for that 30 minutes.laugh

Peter - why not get the plumbing bill halved or even zero'd, give him a quick ride around the block!

Andyvt - your Diablo will increase in real value with an urgent spot of re-location - if you know what I mean!

Evil Dr Robin - I have just decided to check your Facebook listing. I expect it will be a little traumatic but it can't be worse than mine... I have a few Lambo picture albums but very few actual Facebook friends... frown

...have you seen how many Robin Williams there are on Facebook?

No?

Well, there are a very large bigness lot of them, I can tell you.

Some of them look nothing like you, unless you have posted a lot of pictures of black girls in America who spell their first names wrong-like.

I was distracted for a moment by one such girl who is seen to be in the process of removing her upper garments.

Then I had a call back from the local council to explain why there is so much paper rubbish on this little street today.

They said it is due to not-the-usual waste collection operatives being in 'control' this week - these muppets are a company based in America, which seems a long way to come to pick up the bins...

Apparently, there will be no effort made to collect said rubbish and there will be no refund of our council tax and they seem to be unhappy with the suggestion that I collect some of the rubbish and place it on their cars in the council office car park for their reference...

rage . grumpy . ranting . rage . grumpy . ranting . rage . grumpy . ranting

Diablo values WILL improve despite such numptiness and despite the madness of the money markets...

If we don't make it so, then it will just be

Lancashire streets covered in waste paper TERROR alert!!

and other such stuff, including girls taking their clothes off pretending to be the owners of Lamborghinis*

*although that sounds quite an interesting idea...

I recently SOLD my Diablo 1992 in RED for wait for it ...£40k that's right £40k 3 owners 45k miles and all perfectly maintainedup to date.... I must admit looking back I feel a little gutted, even though I bought a much newer improved HYPERCAR Murci. I do miss the old girl, but going from the Diablo (a great machine) to a Murci is a step worth making IMO and from experiance.

I do however wish I could have kept both as they are both great in so many DIFFERENT ways, but haven't got the room or money ...

That was my husband who posted under me. Speaking for myself i prefer to drive the murci as i, er, couldnt drive the diablo found the gears to aggresive and as it was a left hand drive had problems getting to grips with the hand brake. The seating position is a lot better in the murci, although abit annoying when most people confuse it for a gallardo. lol
