I've just sold a 5-month old Granturismo and the best offer was 62k, against a book trade value of 69k and a retail of 75k. One major Maserati Dealership even offered 52.5k on the basis that he had the money and many people were "off-loading this type of car in the current market conditions".

Luckily, I was able to do a part-exchange deal that mitigated the loss somewhat, the Masser cost 89k new, but I don't think that this adverse market is confined to Maserati alone, as a newish car of any make at the upper end of the spectrum will have also have taken rather a severe tumble imho. frown

im surprised on the basis that it is pretty much the hottest car in town and there arent that many around surely. maybe too many speculators?

agreed regarding all car prices, im sure its no worse than a high end merc or an aston etc but still painful for those who did buy one. maybe the S arriving hasnt helped either

i think at 55k could be worth trying some of the dealers too. say its your budget and if they have a car they want rid of...
all they can say is no

3 months ago I looked at a CLS500 on a 06 plate, the MB dealer wanted £34k, I offered 32.5k, he hung the phone on me. The same car is still at the same dealer today, at.....£24850!!! (must have been the most stupid action he ever made).

Is the introduction of the GT S putting even more downward pressure of the standard Granturismo prices as people that I have spoken to that have driven both have said that you have to have the S?

Now that would be cheap motoring £89k new - £52.5k = £36.5k loss or a huge £7300 per month or £1689.00 per week. smile

What made you change!

7k a month in losses doesnt sound fun in anyones books surely?

Do these cars keep falling in value at such a rapid pace, becuase i would of thought they must level off a bit?

They will at some point, but when is anyeones guess.

All cars have taken a slap of late, more so the top end of the market (as someone said above). The GT has the GT-S to compete with too now.

Personally, I think thats a whole lot of car for a shade over £50k.

I would second that, a week before we went to another MB dealer to see another CLS500. The car they had on the website wasn't there so I asked the sales guy if he could open the boot of the demo in the showroom to see how much space there was for a push chair. He said the keys were in the safe and turned away and just walked off.

One week later I bought a Quattroporte swearing never to go near a MB dealer again.

Historically(last few years), they drop an initial chunk of 20% or so then trickle down after that.

Played football last night with a guy who had one of these.

Really my first time i've been up close to one and Wow the sound is amazing!

The rear dosent seem as big as it does in photos but tbh I didnt talk to him about it. As we all left the carpark the refined sound it makes shows its class as it doesnt bark like a 430 nor is it mute as a german V8 crusier.

Just perfect frown

Head Office found the car too big for her, particularly when parking it in our underground car park. We part-exchanged it for a new 911 Carrera with PDK and were able to do a reasonable deal. biggrin

In the present market I think that any of the more expensive lumps are dropping rapidly and as I also now have an Aero 8 currently being sold, it seems that my timing is more than unfortunate. eek

Had a similar experience with an Audi dealer. I turned up with the Missus on a Sunday to look at a Q7 for her. They said there were no appts available, next available was 2 weeks later and he couldn't be bothered to let us even have a seat in the demonstrator which was booked for a test drive! wkers! I went and bought a X5 instead and haven't looked back also!

Its amazing to see that even in this financial climate, some people have the audacity to be so arrogant when it comes to sales. We all wipe our own arses and its funny when these sales people think otherwise!
