too quiet, in the tunnel it didn't sound special. Looks good though.

I think it looks absolutely stunning, and it appears to be a great all rounder (fuel tank aside!).

The California will sell like no other Ferrari before it, by the shed load.

I very much doubt he was "cruising" as stated. Looking at the way he was throwing the back end out in the corners I'd wager he was giving it a little bit of a caning to achieve those 84 miles.

Indeed. Also I wouldn't rate him as one of the most talented helmsmen out there and all his 'moments' - hardly full blooded sustained slides - were achieved by heavy right foot and the car screaming in 2nd. Drive any Fezza around at full revs in 2nd and see what mpg you get!

I think it looks fairly uninspiring...not a fan of modern ferrari design though

I'll have to watch that again but are the brake lights the lower units and not the larger upper ones? Looks a bit odd..

Visually fairly uninspiring IMO but Frankel didn't comment too much on the looks, just that he thought that it was a hoot to drive and who can argue with that!

Nice to see a journalist being utterly unequivocal about his views which he repeated in this weeks magazine. Like others here am not convinced by the looks in particular from the side. I think a true Ferrari has to be beutiful and am afraid all those which remain classics are!
Also 84 miles for £100 ( approx 100 litres) of fuel is about 4 or 5 miles per gallon! pretty poor even for very hard driving!
Wouldnt believe the hype of it selling by the bucket load. I dont think anything will for any length of time! Quick way to tell about true long term residuals. What is the price in euros based on the old average of 1.40 to the £? If we pay Say 20%-30% more for RHD ( allegedly) then that uually points to the true value in the short term after specuators and the 'must haves' have gone! Dont think anything 'big' is truly selling just now! Just look at 599/430 real prices.

Ferrari claim 0-60 in "less than 4.0 secs", but it weighs 1760kg dry and has 40 less bhp than a 430 so how can it be faster?

Easy: sophisticated electronics.

They admit it's a function of LC and gearing, it doesn't need 2nd gear to get to 100kph.

Who cares what 'it's a function of'. If it does it it does it. ALL manufacturers performance claims are based on the most brutal techniques which the cars will generally only take a few times before needing repairs of some description.

I was offered an early slot on the list but gave it a miss - glad I did. The thing is truly uninspiring - give me a 430 anytime. This thing should have been the next Maserati but they went over budget so re-branded it.

it's not clear to a lot people at the moment why they've produced it but when the new 430 arrive it will be more clear as they will be worlds apart and attract very different customers.
