Long shot ….. but

Just looking at potentially buying a capristo Level 1 for my 355, at present I have a qv sports exhaust ( a copy of the challenge exhaust)

Has anyone ever heard both ? if so what is that comparison

Failing that does anyone have a 355 with a capristo level 1 in the surrey / berks area that I could have a listen too

Thanks in advance
Phib

Passing thru verdi's today and apparently they are fitting a level 1 capristo on a 355 spider.
They are in the middx/heathrow area.

Bizarrely, yes.

My car was fitted with a challenge exhaust copy and now has a capristo level 1 attached. The difference was staggering - actually laughed out loud first time I hear it.

I live in Fulham SW6 and you are more than welcome to come and hear the cappy if you want to.

Ah the power of pistonheads !!!

So my exhaust seems quite loud all the time am I right in assuming that the cappy is quite and then much louder than the challenge system ?

Thanks
Phib

You wont be dissapointed, Ive had 3 systems on my car, Xost, Tubi and Capristo. Capristo is just in another league. Make sure you decat it for maximum effect and fireworks!

When I bought my car it had a QV system fitted to it, which was a pleasant sounding system. I thought it was great actually at first. I was a die-hard Tubi fan, but when I heard a Capristo revving on an F355 - hello! The explosive shriek at mid revs made me near wet myself. And that was the car standing still. It had to be done, and I must say it was just, well, different league for volume and F1 sound compared to the QV. The detailing on the system was superb too. I had the level 1. My wife prefered the QV system as the Capristo was louder, but I pay the bills so hey smile Me being the fussy git that I am, I always felt that the Capristo when revving at standstill screamed louder the more you revved it (which was ace for demo's for the kids), but it just lost a little of that tunefulness the louder it got when on the move, if I am making sense? The harshness of the noise seemed to overtake the tunefulness abit once on the road at speed. Still epic around town but on sweeping roads, or on a flat out stretch, it just lacked that final 10% or something. Still an A- from me though. Which is a great mark overall. Maybe try the Level 2? Don't get me wrong it didn't keep me up at night worrying but... After much research I fitted the de-cat pipes and had the top valve wired open but that harshness of the sound increased inline with the volume uplift. I am sure many would have loved it, but it was not for me, so I had the cats refitted, and the valve reset.

I still have the used QV system if anyone is interested, cars long since gone, so pm me with an offer. The devil on my shoulder does still make me wonder about that level 2 Capristo though. Hmmm.... Could somebody here maybe test one out and let us know what it is like?

Dont forget to use the tubi de-cat pipes not the capristo ones for full effect... ( the cappy ones are semi silenced, the tubi ones are just two pieces of straight pipe).

My personal view is Capristo Level 1 with valve and cats in place (when the cats go replace with Hyperflows).

The noise is awesome, but not too ridiculous (relative to decat) at lower revs.

I already return to the garage by engaging 4th gear and letting the car pull itself along as I drive through Hurlingham so as to not upset the neighbours!!

No, I think the cappy is always louder (and more tuneful) like for like.

The change in volume is a function of you having the byepass valve operating and not wired open.

Mate do it, a decatted capristo screams like an f1 engine. You will end up hunting tunnels. I have a couple of clips in my profile that you could listen to.

I have measured mine at 123db about a year and a half ago (I swear its louder now)
The only things I have heard of that are louder are a decated tubi'd gallardo (apparently 127db) and a decatted tubi'd murci (apparently 130db)

Cheers,
BJ

Level 3 Capristo decatted with Tubi decat pipes is louder than any other road car I've ever heard. Epic sound.
Any of the capristo's are hellish loud with the cats taken off. You are far better off not wiring the valve open, that does make the system sound quite harsh at low RPM.

They are nearly too good to put on, arent they!
But fight through that, get it on, and you'll have about the best sounding car on the roads. smile

Why does no one ever choose the stage 2 capristo?
