interested in your opinions chaps.
Realise its a bit finger in the air but I think I can buy an 04 48k mile QP with all the toys and just serviced for £24,500.
Interested in whether you think that's too much or about right & also where those cars will be in 12 months time?
Generally you see them advertised from £27900 with the odd v high miler a bit lower. Have been and driven a few & whilst they dont have the pace of my RS6 they are really lovely cars IMHO.
What are your thoughts of the above & also how do you perceive QP's ?
Cheers,
Craig

was about to ask that actually - never driven either, but had heard bad things about the boxes on the older models - is it really that bad? I think that might put me off a bit, presumably, it'd grate on you during a long drive cross country which would be what I'd want one for.
interested to hear what others think...

If you use the flappy paddles and change gear when you want to it's great.interested to hear what others think...
But I found that in auto, especially around town the gear change is almost headbutt the windscreen bad, better in sport mode, but still noticeably very jerky. Not what i would expect from a premium GT car.
but in the car's defense, gearbox aside, I liked it a lot, classy mota

is the gearbox that bad? I did about 450 miles in a 4200GT and about the same in a 360 with same gearbox and didnt mind it. I love the QP and have been thinking about one although apprecaite the new auto is meant to be better. Whys is the gearbox so bad? Never driven aQP but am sorley tempted at current prices

Its not bad, its just that a few journalists expected a torque convertor and S500 handling/ride but instead got a four door gransport with a paddleshift. When I first drove the car I expected the gearbox to be a nightmare, after about five minutes I turned to the salesman and told him what BS is talked about the gearbox.Badly worded ad I'd suspect. The £11k will be service bills from new. These cars are not cheap to maintain like mass produced S class, 7 series and A8's. They are serviced at dual franchise Ferrari/Maserati dealers who have to spread their overhead costs over far fewer customers cars. They don't have hoards of 3 series/C classes/A4's etc visiting their workshops like the other brands and the manufacturer makes less than 10k cars in total per annum so have to charge more for their parts as they don't have volume sales to reduce unit costs.
Thanks for clarifying this. i was wondering because I liked the paddle shift change in both the 4200 and 360 and didnt find any geat issues with them if driven smoothly. In fact I thought the 4200 as being probably the best junior supercar I had ever driven and way ahead of the 360 as a day to day useable car and much less twitchy etc.

alot of car for the money, but 11k services....!?
Putting that in the ad will make sure that the car never sells. Not sure how they got over 5k for the infotainment system though, at eurospares an equivalent unit for a 4200 is £1300. Makes you wonder if they spent 10 hours diagnosing the problem at £xxx per hour then gave up and replaced the whole lot.i bought a black one yesterday with black leather interior...27000 miles. and drove it back from guildford to london.... . i also own a ferrari 550 ....
the car is great .. the handling out of sport is not good... so its better to leave the car in sport mode..
the gear change in automatic..is not that sophisticated... but how sophisticated are our manual changes...i myself can be very lazy with a manual change so..not really bothered by the slowness of the automatic change..
paddle shift mode is excellent... i have owned a bmw m3 a porsche and a cerbera... in comparison the way the maserati puts 4.2 litres of power down is very sophisticated.
but... the car is massive ... and thats a little cumbersome..but i bought it to transport the kids and the room in the rear is also massive ... the finish is superb..and the price...mmmmmm....dont want them to drop further...mine was a very good price and if the market holds now i will be very happy with my resale in a year...
