Had to go out to a Lamborghini Diablo yesterday that hasnt been started for a while. Its been living in a barn for 5 years...uncovered and unprotected!

The door to the barn was opened and over in the far corner of the barn was sat a black Diablo with a flat tyre, 5 years of caked on dust, bird c*!p, and finger writing in the dust. And to top that a mouse has made a nest behind the drivers seat and has decided the fuse board wiring makes a tasty snack.

I thought it was a case of it hadnt been used for 6 months and just needed firing up and checking over, but its last outing was a track day in '03, it was driven back and its been sat there ever since.

Took the battery off which was white with corrosion and a quick peek around the brakes and anything that can perish has. the discs are black from corrosion and the pad linings fell off when i pocked them.

Anyway....the engine, before giving it a kick with the starter i attempted to turn it by hand and oh dear, it doesnt turn in any direction....took the plugs out and no diffence...I have squirted a little oil in to each cylinder and left it to soak for several days. The clutch is dead, so much so the pedal wont even depress! and the brake pedal straight to the floor.

It has now been recovered into me and now start the challenge of bringing it back to life. I love a challenge

Doesn't sound to me like it has been loved to be honest so why will the owner not let it go? Cars like these need to be driven, not left around uncovered in the corner of a barn mad

i believe its coming back to life to be driven once again and to live in a new purpose built garage for that, a jag lister v12 7lt (same barn and same condition) and an xr8.

now its out in the open and once completed i will make sure its maintained and has a shake down fequently.

I am very surprised that the engine wont turn over at all. I've left engines for 10 years and they've started on the starter after about 15 seconds of churning.

Lots of photos would benefit this thread!

If it is a genuine 6 litre VT, that is some find.

Sorry but another quick question but was the car located in a village on the Suffolk / Norfolk border?

Stu.
A great find but a potential moneypit.
Looks like an early 5.7 2WD car, not a 6.0VT.
Can we make the pictures a bit bigger please?
